Down From The Wound are a band from the Philippines that plays a very heavy and brutal form of death metal with grindcore elements and this is a review of their 2014 album "Violence And the Macabre" which was released by Comatose Music.
"Ill Fated Annihilation" which is also the first song on the album opens up with heavy and brutal sounding guitar riffs along with some blast beats from the drums which also lead up to deep death metal growls and then the song starts to alternate between mid paced and fast parts as well as adding a small amount of melody to the guitar riffing.
"Hypocritical Repentance" begins with fast, heavy and brutal guitar riffs along with some drums and deep death metal growls and then song also alternates between mid paced and fast parts along with some slam elements.
"Convulsive Human Atrocities" opens up with heavy, fast and brutal sounding guitar riffs along with some drums and deep growls as well as having some technical elements being thrown into the guitar riffing as well as a small amount of melody before going into a mid paced direction. as w ell as returning back to fast parts at times and mixing in blast beats and towards the end there is a small amount of guitar leads.
"Schematic Fraud" starts up with distorted noise sounds before adding in fast, heavy and brutal guitar riffs along with some blast beats from the drums before adding in growls as well as alternating between mid paced and fast parts.
"Beyond The Depths of Epidemic Abortion" kicks in with heavy, fast and brutal guitar riffs along with some blast beats from the drums before adding in growls and then the music starts to alternate between mid paced and fast parts.
'Violence And The Macabre" comes in with fast, heavy and brutal sounding guitar riffs along with some drums before adding in growls and then the music adds in mid paced sections along with slam elements.
"Down In Unjustified Extinction" hits it off with fast, heavy and brutal guitar riffs along with some drums before slowing down and adding in growls and then the music starts to alternate between mid paced and fast parts.
"The Aftermath" is introduced with fast, heavy and brutal sounding guitar riffs along with some drums before adding in growls and then t he music goes into a more mid paced direction as well as alternating between mid paced and fast parts.
"Infiltrate" is brought in with heavy guitar riffs and blast beats from the drums as well as bringing in growls and then the music alternates between mid paced and fast parts as well as adding in slam elements and harmonics and towards the end there is a few seconds of guitar leads being utilized..
"Exteriorized Mystecism" makes its way in with heavy guitar riffs along with some leads in the background and you can also hear a small amount of melody in the guitar riffing and the song is very short and under 2 minutes.
"Contesting The Sacred" which is also the last song on the album begins with heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds alter growls start to kick in and after awhile the music starts to speed up a bit as well as adding in a small amount of blast beats as well as some guitar leads..
Song lyrics cover violent themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound along with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix.
In my opinion Down From The Wound are a very great sounding heavy, brutal and technical death metal band with slam elements and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ill Fated Annihilation" "Schematic Fraud" "Infiltrate" and "Contesting The Sacred". RECOMMENDED BUY.
