Fumigation Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new
split?
Since recording the "Invasion" Split with THE PATH TO R'LYEH we've just been playing the
occasional one off gig, like the Sherbrooke Death Fest for example, and prepping for the release.
New merch, new promos, new website designs, new errrthang.

2.You have a split coming out during the end f April, how would you describe the musical sound that
is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the
past?
The "Invasion" Split has a little bit more of everything FUMIGATION does best...heavy headbanging
groove with brutal and techy and melodic bits thrown in just to mix it up. Production wise, we went
for a more dirty, grungy, live sound with this recording as oppose to the full length "Integrated
Pest Management". We'll most likely go back to a slightly cleaner/modern sound on the next full,
but we figured it would be fun to change it up for the split.

3.This is the first recording to be released since 2013, can you tell us a little bit more about
what has been going on during that time span?
Shows man. that’s about it. Sharing the stage with some of our favourite bands like MALIGNANCY,
INCANTATION, FIRST FRAGMENT, just to name a few.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?
Lyric wise FUMIGATION will always have an underlying pest control theme, but we added some extra
spices this time. "Arachnophobia" is about Spider-man being a perverted voyeur borderline
paedophile.
"Forced Vaginal Harbourage" is about stuffing rats inside one of those 600lbs can't get out of bed
super fatties. "Earwigs & Earwax" and "A Beard Full of Maggots" is self explanatory.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Fumigation'?
Pest Control. Exterminating.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you
describe your stage performance?
The best shows are probably the ones where the audience doesn't give a shit about us. We usually
just get pissed off a move around that much more and try harder to get people into it. We're a good
live band. Heavy as fuck, and usually have some sort of pest control thing going on.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
We'll do a lot of one-off shows...maybe a mini tour in the fall...we'll see what happens...none of
us are in a position to quit our jobs to tour unfortunately.

8.You are sharing this split with 'The Path To R'lyeh', what are your thoughts on the other band
that had participated on the recording?
THE PATH TO R'LYEH are ready to take Canada and the world by storm! A new band but already have a very intense and techy sound with some groove to tie it all together. Keep an eye on these guys.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of brutal death metal?
Indonesia seems to like us a lot for some reason. Overall people seem to dig us, we just need to
keep extending our reach so more and more people hear us.

10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the
band members are a part of?
Matt and Teebone are part of SIGNS OF CHAOS that released the "Watch it Burn" EP not too long ago.
Chris and Teebone are live members of NORILSK that are currently in the studio recording a full
length. We think JayDee and MattyDee are doing something together but they won't admit it...

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
The future of FUMIGATION musically is either a turn more brutal or more melodic...tough to say
right now...keep following the band to find out!

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer material
and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Oh I never really say who influenced us as we usually leave that to the listener...but some people
have mentioned Skinless and Cephalic Carnage recently. Personally I’ve been listening to the new
IMMOLATION, ATAXIA, PHOBOCOSM, all kinds of good stuff!

13.What are some of your non musical interests?
Exterminating.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

The Path To R'lyeh Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Sure. The Path to R'lyeh originaly started when our singer Yan wanted to help a new
friend, Alain, to start a band. Alain had moved from his hometown in Gaspésie to pursue his dreams
in Montreal the year before and was struggling finding the right people. They searched for the right
musicians while composing and bringing songs from Alain's very extensive repertoire. Along the way,  we got Milann, Jonathan and Marc to join the fray and as the line up solidified, the band was born with the collaboration with Fumigation and CDN Records for the split EP ''Invasion''.

2.How would you describe your musical sound?
Agressive, evil, catchy yet techy, brutal and twisted.

3.Both the lyrics and band name came from the writings of H.P Lovecraft, can you tell us a little
bit more about your interest in this author?
Yan: What he left behind always fascinated me. His books are written with a grim candor that
only a writer that swim against the stream can achieve. I played a lot of Call of Cthulhu and I
found that fan made content really added to my interest of the lore and I found it a cool way to
pitch in. The band were cool with that and we are going to building on that in the future.

4.Are there any other horror and science fiction authors that have an influence on your songwriting?
Yan: I have a way of writing lyrics that derives more of the ''storyboard'' or ''animatic''
than actual litterature. What fuels me are images I see on the internet by other artists about the
lore and also building on stories left with mysterious outcoming like, what happens in the future
with Y'ha-nthlei in The Shadow Over Innsmouth?

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe
your stage performance?
We have not played live yet as we want to wait for the right time and the right place to
do our first show.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
We have very busy lives, touring is not an immediate concern but if the right opportunity
arises in the future, why not? But first and foremost, we want to be recognized at home before
anything.

7.You will be sharing this split with 'Fumigation', what are your thoughts on the other band that
had participated on the recording?
They are amazing, cool, full of talent bunch and they really deserves your attention. They
are consistently good in shows and in their theme also, very professional bunch.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been  to your music by fans of brutal death metal?
So far, we have not received any bad feedback. The scene seems to really appreciate what we
do and we are mad proud about that.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We are working on a 10 songs full length concept album developing on the events loosely
described in  Y'ha-nthlei's Awakening. An album co-written with Jonathan who will bring a tad more
tech in the leads while keeping the same brutalness Alain brought. Back vocals will also be a thing.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also
what are you listening to nowadays?
Wow, this question's answer knows no end really haha! Our main influences would be
Origin, Beneath The Massacre, Alterbeast and another dozen bands per band members.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
Eating your dreams then regurgitate them as nightmares

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Thank you everybody for reading all this, we appreciate a lot and having you headbang to
our songs means the world to us.

The  Summoned  are  a  band  from  Lowell,  Massachusetts  that  plays  a  very  technical  and experimental  mixture  of  death  metal  and  deathcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2017  album  "Sessions"  which  will  be  released  in  June.

A  very  heavy  sound  along  with  atmospheric  elements  start  off  the  album  before  speeding  up  and  adding  in  blast  beats  along  with  the  vocals  being  a  mixture  of  death  metal growls  and  high  pitched  screams  and  the  mid  tempo  sections  of t he  songs  are  heavily  influenced  by  deathcore  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  very  technical.

Clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  jazz  and  prog  elements  being  utilized  at  times  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of melody  in  both  the  leads  and  riffs  and  as  the  album  progresses  melodic  singing  can  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  music  getting  more  experimental  and  there  is  also  a  small  amount  of  synths  and  acoustic  guitars  and  the  last  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

The  Summoned  plays  a  musical  style  that takes  technical  death  metal,  deathcore,  experimental,  pro  and  avant  garde  music  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  concept,  space  and  dreams  themes.

Rithiya H. Khievithiya Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your music?
I've had an ecletic up bringing when it comes to music ranging from Cambodian Folk Music to Symphonic Death Metal. The obsession I have with cats is also pretty scary "laughs".
Music to me is how I express myself. Everytime I compose a song it always comes out unique because it usually captures a feeling or wandering thoughts at that point & time.

2.Recently you have released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
I really wanted to push myself to mix different styles of music to give each song their own personality.

3.You are also an multi instrumentalist, can you tell us all of the instruments you play?
Guitar, Bass, Drums, and a bastardized keyboard player. All self taught by ear "laughs"

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and usbjects you explore with your music?
My Lyrical interests usually veers towards environmental concerns, Social Constructs, Cosmology, & freeing the Oppressed

5.You record both solo and have full bands, how would you compare the 2?
Not much of a difference really. I've always been the main creator for every project I've been involved in. When a fellow member
comes up with an idea I try as best as I can to see if it fits perfectly for the song to incorporate them. I usually write full songs with very little wiggle room but always ask if there's a part that could sound better for the music. I then have that member compose the part and then we A & B the ideas, debate and come to final conclusion.

6.On the ep you had a few quests, can you tell us a little bit more and also their contributions?
I've had a slew of guest on this release "laughs" but I digress.
Guest musicians I've recruited for "The Finite Cycle" EP are Ryan Knight, Dmitry Demyanenko, Joey Concepcion, Chris Dovas, Jeff DeMarco, & Guest lyricsts Jim Gregory,
        & Charles Ayala.
Ryan threw down a solo on song "Industrial Demise"
Dmitry Demyanenko threw down a guest solo on song "The Finite Cycle" During the epic choir breakdown.
Joey Concepcion added a soulful touch on "For All Mankind" during the 2nd solo.
Chris Dovas retracked over the Midi drums I composed but also added his own spin on things for certain parts.
Jeff DeMarco was on vocals for songs "Maelstrom of War", "The Finite Cycle", & "For All Mankind". Jeff also wrote lyrics for "The Finite Cycle"
Jim Gregory wrote Lyrics for "For All Mankind"
Charles Ayala wrote lyrics for "Maelstrom of War"
Nick Scarfo co-wrote most of the beginning of "The Finite Cycle" & the verse section for "Industrial demise"

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
I would jump on a label if the agreement is mutual. I've turned down many due to the fact that, I would've had to essentially invest a large sum of money into paying another
entity for promotion & distribution. It just doesn't' make sense this day n age with self distributional companies like "CD-Baby" & "Distrokid.com"

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of progressive and extreme metal?

I was quite surprised when countries like Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Belarus & Moscow have been very receptive to The Finite Cycle.

9.What is going on with some of the other musical instruments you are a part of these days?
I've put Alterius in hiatus to pursue my session work, solo releases & a Blacken Death Metal project called "Plaga Dominus"

10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
I hope to grow my RHK Studios YouTube channel, release more music & continue collaborate with fellow like minded musicians in the future.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an infleunce on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Oh man, They're so many to choose from! I'd have to start with Arch Enemy, Nevermore, Symphony X, Death, Metallica, Slayer, In flames, & Scorpions have been deep rooted for influences.
As for what I'm currently listening to. That would have to be Jason Richardson's new solo album, Paul Wardingham's "Spiritual Machines" , & The Algorithm "Overclock".

12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Videography, photography, (Casual) adrenaline junkie, & cats

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Go try Nutella & Peanut butter on pancakes. It's delicious! Support Local Artist anyway you can!
