Desecration/Holocausto Cannibal/Intravisceral Necropsia/EveryDayHate Records/2015 Split 7 Inch Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  U.K's  Desecration  and  Portugal's  Holocausto  Cannibal  called  "Intravisceral  Necroposia"  which  was  released  by  EveryDayHate  Records  and  we will  start  off  the  review  with  Desecration  a  band  that  plays  a  brutal  form  of  death  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  that  uses  a  good  mixture  of  growls,  screams  and  blast  beats  and  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  lot  of  grindcore  elements  and  both  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  and  violence  themes.

  While  I  never  have  been  a  huge  fan  of  Desecration  the  band  does  add  in  2  quality  death/grind  songs  that  would  appeal  to  most  fans  of  the  genre.

  Next  up  is  Holocausto  Cannibal  a  band  that  plays  a  brutal  mixture  of  death  metal   and  grindcore.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  distorted  early  90's  influenced  sound  that  slowly  evolves  into  a  brutal  grindcore  direction  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  deep  death  metal  growls  that  can  be  very  guttural  at  times  while  some parts  do  bring  in  a small  amount  of  high  pitched  screams  and  there  are  also  some  mid  paced  parts  being  utilized  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  and  cannibalism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Holocausto  Cannibal  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death/grind  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  decent  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  death  metal  and  grindcore. 7/5  out  of  10.    

Graveslave/Corpseborne/Zero Budget Records/2015 EP Review

  Graveslave  are  a  band  from  Minnesota  that  plays  a  mixture  of  brutal  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  ep  "Corpseborne"  which  was  released  by  Zero  Budget Records.

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  grindcore  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  morbid  sounding  melodies  that  bring  elements  of  death  metal  into  the  music  and  there  are  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  growls  and  high  pitched  screams.

  When  mid  tempo parts  are  utilized  you  can  hear  elements  of  slam  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  an  early  80's  British  metal  feeling  to  the  tracks  while  they  also  bring  in  more  modern  and  technical  influences  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  whole  ep  remains  true  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  style.

  Graveslave  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  both  old  school  and  modern  brutal  death  metal  and  mixes  it  in  with grindcore  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Graveslave  are  a  very  great sounding  brutal  mixture  of  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "All  That  I  Despise" and  "Divine  Flesh".  8  out  of  10. 

Indignity Interview

    1.For those that have never herd of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1. Hailz! We are just a bunch of friends from a few past bands. And after a couple of years we decided to play some death metal together. Thats how Indignity started.

    2.In June you had released a demo, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
2. The purpose of recording Decrepitude was to find a vocalist, for it was huge problem for us. When Kilas finally came across, we decided that we can’t waste this material. So he put down the vocals to finish the demo. As for the production we are very pleased (once again huge thanks go to Azar & Arek of Orion Studio). We wanted a raw, brutal sound. No triggers nor digital technique, 4 guitar tracks were recorded for each side on 2 different amps

    3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
3. Lyrics are mostly about people behavior, faith, society and whole bad shit that happen in life.

    4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Indignity'?
4. Indignity is offence, dishonor, people being two faced. All in all, it’s just a band name, no hidden message intended.

    5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
5. Well, till now we played only one gig, and it was quite cool. Nice bands, cool party, lots of booze.

    6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
6. In November we're supporting Chlew & Human Abattoir Tour 2015, Piekarnia- Opole. In December we'll play in our home towns. As for 2016, we haven't got any shows booked yet

    7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
7. Yeah, our main goal is to release our full lenght by some label. It's still a long road ahead of us, but we're spreading the word about Indignity in any way possible. We decided that Decrepitude will be a self release, but what will happen with this material is still a mystery. Maybe a split, who knows. As for the feedback, it’s always very positive.

    8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your musically fans of brutal death metal?
8. It was very positive. Some foreign radio stations asked for the material, european and american as well, guys from zines wrote some reviews, shared links, music. It was really cool. And some fuckin rip off cunts also came across

    9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
9. Miras and Sesil play in other bands. Miro's in Collider (death metal), with which he's preparing material for their new album, to be recorded in 2016. Sesil plays something entirely different, a booze rock band- Pigs in Tank

    10.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
10. In 2016 we're once again entering Orion Studio to record a full lenght. It’s still going to be brutal death, but this time with a little touch of slam and grind, that we all love

    11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11. Suffocation for sure, Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Abominable Putridity, Pyrexia, Katalepsy, Ingested etc etc. The list is wayyyyy to long

12. We have a lot different interests but there's to much of it to describe.

  Gravesite are  a  band  from  Italy that  plays  a  horror  style  of  old  school  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  theri  2015 album  "Horrifying Nightmares" which  was  released by  Xtreem  Music.

  A horror  movie  soundtrack  style  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  getting heavier  and  also  adding  melodic  guitar  leads  onto  the  recording  and  the  music  also  brings  in  elements  of  thrash  at  times and the  riffs  also  bring  in  morbid  sounding  melodies at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  elements  of  grindcore  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

 When  vocals  are  brought  onto  the  recording  they  are  death  metal  growls  that  are  very  easy  to  understand  and  the  bands  musical  style  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  all  of  the  songs  sound  like  they  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  release  more  than  20 years  ago  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the last  track  also  brings  in a  brief  use  of  clean  playing.

  Gravesite  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  and  also  adds  in  a  touch of  thrash  and  grind  along  with  the  atmosphere  of  a  horror  movie  which  also  makes  their  music  stand  out  a  bit  more,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  horror  and  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gravesite are  a  very  great  sounding  horror  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Submerged  In  Vomit"  "The  Painter  of  Agonies"  and  "Worship  Death  In  All  Its  Forms".  8 out  of  10.

Iniquitous Savagery/Subversions Of The Psyche/Grindethic Records/2015 CD Review

  Iniquitous  Savagery  are  a  band  with  members  from  both  England  and  Scotland  that  plays  a  very brutal,  guttural  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Subversions  Of  The  Psyche"  which  will  be  released in  September  by  Grindethic  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  deep  guttural  growling  vocals  and  blast beats  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  some  of  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  touch  of  slam  and  the  music  also  gets  very  technical  at  times.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  music  also  brings  in  both  modern  and  old  school  brutal  death  metal  elements  and  bass  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  in  some parts  of  the  songs  and  as  the  album  progresses  spoken  word samples   and  high  pitched  grindcore  screams  can  be  heard  at  times  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  direction from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Iniquitous  Savagery  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  technical  and  brutal  and  also  uses  a  guttural  vocal  approach  to  create  a  very  heavy  sounding  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  metaphysical.  gore  and  violent  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Iniquitous  Savagery  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  and  technical  guttural  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Transient  States  Of  Metaphysical Revelation"  "Subversions  Of  The  Psyche"  and  "Subjugated  Into Pathological  Servility".  8  out  of  10.  

Torture Pit/The Assassins Sessions/2015 EP Review

  Torture  Pit  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  metal  and  deathcore  with  a  touch  of  thrash  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "The  Assassins  Sessions".

  A  heavy  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  as  well  a s some  melodic  riffing  a  few  seconds  later  before  adding  in  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  adding  in  elements of  thrash,  groove  metal  and  hardcore.

  Most  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  direction  while  a  small  amount  of  fast  parts  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  at  times  and  the  songs  also  mix  in  a  lot  of  old  school  extreme  metal  influences  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  one  track  also  brings  in  hip  hop  style  vocals.

  Torture  Pit  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  death  metal  and  deathcore  but  also  mix  in  thrash,  hardcore  and  groove  metal  to  create  a  sound  of t heir  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  problems  and  fun.

  In  my  opinion  Torture   Pit  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death  metal,  deathcore,  thrash  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Creep"  and  "Fire".  8  out  of  10.

      

    

  

   

Rifftera Interview

Answers by Janne Hietala (guitarist, harsh vocalist & main songwriter of Rifftera).

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

It's been busy! There's a surprisingly much work to do with a release even after the recordings are complete. There's been a lot of bureaucratic stuff that needs to be done, connecting with people, making stuff to happen... Because this is the first album we've ever released, there's been a lot of new things to learn.

We've also started to rehearse more frequent than before and I've been composing some new stuff for the future.

2.You have a new album coming out during the end of August, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the demo's you have released in the past?

Well, our music is a mixture of thrash metal and melodic death metal, but there is also a lot of influences from other genres. When we stay heavy, we are pretty heavy with our thrashy riffs and mosh-parts. And when we go melodic, we are not afraid of using pop-like melodies and singalong choruses. But the focus is definitely on the heavier stuff.

Our last demo, single song release “Open Wounds” (2014), contained pretty much all the same elements than the upcoming album called “Pitch Black”. That's why it was an easy decision to start recording a full length album, since we knew that finally we were able to sound like what we should.

Before “Open Wounds”-demo there was a lot of progress happening from demo to demo. My vocals are probably the best example: I was literally screaming for the first time when we recorded our first demo. During the second demo I screamed more in the hardcore-style and then finally “discovered” my voice for the “Open Wounds”-demo.

So the natural evolution has changed our sound a lot, but I would also say that the overall atmosphere in the songs has turned more darker / evil during the years. Like you can nowadays even spot some black metal -influences from our songs. That is something that would have not happened in our first demo.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

I write lyrics about my personal experiences and views on things. Life in general, politics, relationships etc. So basically I write about stuff that I have something to say about. I don't really want to point out which song means what, but I think it's pretty easy to figure out the meaning for the most of them. I like to use metaphors and try to leave the door open for people's own interpretations, rather than going straight forward to the point.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Rifftera'?

This is probably something that most of the people wonder when they see our name. “What kind of stupid name is that? Do they think that they are Pantera or something?”.

Alright, I can understand if people think that it's stupid. Because yep, it pretty much is. But it's actually not based on Pantera. During one past band project we considered using name “Drifter”, until we found out that there was already a band existing with that name. Like there is always, if you consider using a short name that actually means something. Time passed and after playing with words I ended up having name “Rifftera”. It's just a logical evolution of a name made by a brilliant mind: Drifter → Riffter → Rifftera.

So what does it mean? It's just a play of words. Unique name that means only our band, nothing else. Our songs are really riff-oriented, so I think being as weird as it is, it actually gives a heads up of what's coming: Goddamn trillion kick ass riffs!

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Actually Rifftera hasn't played a single concert yet. This is because we haven't had a permanent drummer at any point.

We aimed for recording a full-length album from the beginning and did get that done with a help from our friend Thomas Tunkkari, who plays the drums on the album. Unfortunately he lives on the other side of Finland, which makes it pretty hard to get anything more serious happening from that. I know that there are bands where members live in different countries, hell, even different continents! But at least at this stage of our career it would be so much easier if we would find a drummer who lives nearby, which would make it possible for us to have rehearsals in regular basis etc.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

We are hoping to finally get the drummer issue solved. After that is done, then we definitely have plans for shows also.

7.Most of the band members where also in 'Chain Reaction', what was the decision behind breaking up that band and starting this one?

Chain Reaction, which changed it's name to Chain Reaktion after the first demo, was a band co-formed by Antti Pöntinen (keyboards) and myself. It was our first band which we basically started when we decided to start playing and bought our instruments. We just went straight to the rehearsal place and started making horrible noise, without having any clue what we were doing.

Eventually we did learn how to play and how to write songs. Chain Reaktion did some gigs and released couple of demos (and Jupe Karhu did join in to play bass between those demos). Then life happened and our drummer and guitarist / vocalist moved to the other sides of Finland due to women and school. And that was it for that band.

After Chain Reaktion was dead and buried in 2005 we did meet Mikko Kuoppamaa (guitar & clean vocals). However, things with Rifftera wasn't actually started until 2010.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme and melodic metal?

It has been really positive! It's really hard to get people listen to our music, but when we do succeed on that, then they seem to mostly like it.

The only criticism that I have read from couple of different locations is that some say that we don't bring enough new to the table. But then again some say that we do sound fresh and new... So it's just a matter of opinion again.

I personally just want to make music that I want to listen to myself. So of course you can then hear my love for old school thrash metal and 2000s melodic death metal from our music. But on the other hand when I'm asked to name any band that sounds like us, I don't actually know what I could say. I can say that some parts of our music are something Metallica could do, some parts are something Soilwork could do etc, but I don't know what other band would overall sound like our music. So I think we do have something of our own going on here.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Well, there are some new songs that are almost complete and will very likely be released on the future. I would describe them as a natural continuation to the “Pitch Black”. I really like the overall sound and atmosphere we have achieved, so there is no need to do big changes. Just some fine adjustments here and there.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I guess that for the past two years there's been two bands that I've been listening more than the others: Megadeth and Exodus. And especially their discography from the 2000s. I love Megadeth's heavier stuff and Exodus has done best thrash metal that has been released during the 2000s. Amazing riffs! And I sure get inspired by them.

If I should write new music but can't get anything done, one thing that works pretty much every time is to listen either Megadeth's “Rust In Peace” or Metallica's “...And Justice For All”. For some reason I always get really inspired by listening those records. One of the best albums ever for sure.

Other than these thrash metal classics I've been lately listening to some more extreme and darker metal. Of course I do listen and love softer music also, but I don't really get inspired by it. So it seems that things with Rifftera are getting maybe even more heavier in the future...

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

Good movies and series. Those can help with music also, since they can wake up thoughts to write lyrics about and cool soundtracks can inspire by themselves.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Mincer Interview

.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Actually Mincer is waiting for the chance to record new songs, a mix of personal troubles and lack of musical stimulating situation are slowed the writing of new songs, I hope soon to release my "kraken" and to record new gore horror songs!

2.So far this year you have released an ep and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound of the newer material and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

I hope who the new sounds are more powerful and brutal than the oldest, actually I can record into "Shub Niggurat Cave" , my little home recording studio, in the past, we've used other studios, with sound engineers not into extreme musick,this situation have surely gived a sound less aggressive respect my intentions. Of course I was more inexperienced about recording and mixing and songwriting.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

The morbid and obscure side of our minds, a mix of fascination for violence, blasphemies, all the things who made worst living, the descent into personal private hells. Some songs are inspired by movies who we love, for example "Morbid Incest Possession" from the great cult "Amityville Possession", "House of the Carnivorous..." by "House by the Cemetery", other express our thoughts about life, for example "Addicted to Rotting Abortion" it's against the brainless demographic bomb, "Entrapped into the Cursed Hive" it's a metaphore about life's cultural limitations, "Blasphemous Sadochistic..." a story about a porn addiction.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Mincer'?

The name came from the first vox with just the meaning to indicate the path of our musical intentions, destroy ears and mind of the listeners, a sonic bulldozer for real lovers of musical violence without breath!

5.The band was broken up for 7 years, what was the cause of the split and also the decision to reform?

Well, the 1st incarnation of Mincer was dead because the 1st singer have lost any interest in the project, he's becomed a standard family pussywhipped individual. I've had at the time great personal troubles, so no energies to find new members, I also live in one of the most talentless poserish areas of the western civilization and at last, in my opinion, Brutal Gore were becomed to much trendy at that time, a lot of people has jumped on the bandwagon for mediocre and false pseudo extremist boring crap. Thought of reform born from the new singer, Ivan, one of the few fans of Mincer from the beginning and the guy who sing in another projects of mine, called "Red Bible Black" and "Carcinosarcoma". I was insecure, but a day my inner demons have suggested some new ideas and so...

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up again in the future or do you choose to remain a duo?

In my area there is no choice, no people is available for REAL extreme music, just a bunch of trend addicteds who form bands just to have a stage in front of friends and girlfriends, playing badass . I'm not anti social but my thoughts don't make easy musical relationship. If we find motivated people is great but actually...

7.Has the band done any live shows or is this strictly a studio project?

I'm not against live shows but in our area but if you're not friend of someone of the people who promote live events, you're out! We don't play pseudogrindcore with lyrics about human and animal rights, my face don't have a good look for the female audience etc etc..the self indulgent scene here is a small pathetic reproduction of the mainstream culture so black sheeps or outcasts are not welcomed.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by fans of brutal death metal and grindcore?

It's Ivan, the vocalist who follow this aspect, and he say who people into true brutal musick have enjoyed our stuff asking for more, of course I'm happy of this. It's surely a positive point who give me more energies to put into Mincer. Sometimes to play and produce real extreme music give the same satisfaction to make sex with a plastic doll, so positive feedback are ever welcomed.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Well, Ivan sing also in Cannibe, another duo with drum machine who've maded really a lot of releases, and in "Devoured by Vermin" a band recently formed really interesting, I hope they're not a flash in the pan, their name give you clearly the musical co-ordinates eheheh. I was involved in a lot of projects, you can find some of them on my bandcamp, a sort of "worst of..". Soon will be released a 7" split with Blaspherian and my other project, In League With Satan, Rabid Blackened Death Metal, actually I'm working for a Death Doom Release with a friend of mine in the vein of Thergothon, Winter, Goatlord, Cianide. Maybe I'll give new life to "Red Bible Black", Total Blasphemous Brutality. Finally , in these days on my bandcamp I've published G.A.D. "Sleep" Dark Ambient with harsch Noise insertions, another collaboration from me and a friend who run the D.I.Y label "No Tomorrow". Until my mind and body don't be cracked , I'll made musick.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

mmmmh Really I don't know, I hope to release new stuff but the hardship of existence don't permit a clear planning. Also to spew my grudge in a live it's a hope but like I've sayed previously, the situation here is not comfortable for this. I just hope who new stuff we'll be more intense, a musical war machine.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Oh my! It's a huge list here, my musical roots started in the late 80ies so all underground Death/Black/grind Bands of that golden era, Necrovore, Possessed, early Venom, early Kreator, early Sodom, Repulsion, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Incubus (fl), Mortician, early Bathory, Rottrevore, Autopsy, Blasphemy, Sarcofago and many more. About Mincer maybe Catasexual Urge Motivation, Christ Denied, Carnivorous Vagina,Regurgitate, Deranged,Disgorge (Mex),Brodequin are some of the bands who have inspired me.Recently, Thanks to a friend, I've discovered an interesting Band called Phosphore Blanc, the new Deiphago album, relentless as ever, the Jesus Fucking Wept compilation,Gloryhole from Italy, Sacrocurse... 12.What are some of your non musical interests?

I'm a good book reader, actually I'm reading a "best of..." of C.G.Jung, some books about medieval age, an essay on Devil's myth, and re-reading H.P.Lovecraft and E.A.Poe. I'm a great fan of B movies, especially Horror or the old black & white movies, surrealistic or horror. I hate mainstream hollywood crap or the abominant italian movies of these days, I can't stomach that stuff.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for your interest and support, of course,and to all people who have supported Mincer. All people interested in collaborations are welcomed. My thoughts are who, nowadays, some extreme music scenes are heavily "mainstreamized" but I prefere the opposite path, so, I suggest to everyone to keep to support bands , people , labels who say a big NO to the commercialism and, in a more highest level, to the hedonistic slavery existence!

Forte Ruin Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

- We are six-member metal band from Lahti, Finland. Band was founded in 2011, but the current line-up was formed in 2014. Our music is influenced by wide variety of different genres, yet the outcome being melodic death metal style.


2. Recently you have released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

- We wanted to create a fresh sounding metal record, that would differ from the metal music's sound-standards, but still being punchy and ass-kicking EP.


3. The band has been around since 2011 but waited until 2015 to release any music, can you tell us a little bit more about the first 4 years?

- Practically first years we spent on experimenting through different styles to find the right way to mix all the influences that we wanted to include. So first years we practiced, made new songs and played few gigs. In 2013 we won a local band competition and got few days in studio. In those sessions we recorded our first single “Chains”. During the summer 2014 the band went through a line-up change that led to the band you hear on our first EP.       


4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

 - Everything from dilemmas and issues of everyday life, humanity itself and the vastly changing world around us. Often our lyrics do have a double meaning, which usually comes out when you just try to change the perspective or person in the text.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Forte Ruin'?

We wanted a short, concise name that is easy to remember and most importantly, not in use. And for some reason we wanted to use the word “ruin”. At first we were thinking about “For the ruin” but it seemed too basic and cliché. The name was formed when our previous keyboardist mistyped the name and we noticed that it looked cool to us and also made sense. Forte Ruin basically means “loud destruction”.


6. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

- Best shows has probably been in the club called “Torvi” in our hometown Lahti. It’s a small place where you can really feel the intimacy and connection between the band and audience. Our performance is brutal, energetic, immersive, and has got it's sensitive moments along with the raging moshpits.


7. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

- Yes we do have. We are going to play as much shows as we can at the moment. What it comes to future, we are trying to spread the word, get our music heard and get shows abroad.


8. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

- Like any other band that releases music, we are looking for a label too. Currently we haven't received any interest, because we even haven't been in contact with any label so far.


9. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?

- The feedback has been mostly very positive and encouraging in a worldwide level. We’ve got positive comments even from people who doesn’t listen to metal.


10. When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

- As said earlier; we were (and still are) evolving and trying to find our place and style. I don’t think we’ve found it quite yet but we are getting there. Slowly but surely.  At the moment we are composing, arranging and rehearsing new songs as a part of the plan of making a full length album and definitely, it's going to be faster, more epic, melodic and atmospheric entirety.


11. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

- It would be a quite long story to really tell all of the bands and influences of each member of the band. This is because the band consists of six individuals whose musical influences and favorite bands differ from one another, despite melodic death metal of course. But the range of influences and bands goes from jazz to death metal. For example, from Frank Gambale to Porcupine Tree and Toto, all the way to Lamb of God and Soilwork.


12. What are some of your non musical interests?

- Homebrewing, photographing, gym, playing video games for example. Besides school, work etc. of course. And some of us are strictly focusing on music. 


13. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

- We are hoping that the people who like our music, would support us by simply just liking the Forte Ruin facebook page. It's a small thing to do, but means a lot to the bands. Also we would like to thank all of our supporters and fans. Thank you for the interest and interview. 

In Twilight's Embrace Interview

1.Can  you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

Well, for the most part of the last months we've been busy preparing stuff for the album's release. Putting together artwork, layout, planning promotion and talking to promoters as well. There's a saying 'third time is a charm', which I believe is true in our case. 'The Grim Muse' is our third record and it really defines what this band is about and who we are as artists.

2.In September, you have a new album coming out, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

'The Grim Muse' is by far the most intense offering we as In Twilight's Embrace have done in our whole lifespan. Having said that, I need to clear out that this intensity works on different levels. It's intense in terms of brutality. It's intense in terms of diversity. Although it might bear some occasional kinship to the previous one, I do think it's rather a departure from the way we used to sound on 'Slaves to Martyrdom', mainly because we have the new drummer on this record and Marcin - our bass player and recording engineer – was involved in the writing for it. Musically, we're still very much into death metal with a strong presence of melody, but this time around the overall feel of the songs is much darker and wild. Apart from such straightforward tunes as 'Dystopian' there are also a couple of more intricate ones which, I hope, will make the listener feel lost in a way.

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

There's also a serious shift in that respect. While the lyrics on the previous two albums were a kind of social commentary, on the new one I would rather withdraw from such statements. I no longer feel interested in voicing my opinion about where this world is going. Honestly, it's on the contrary. The older I get, my lyrics are more and more heading inwards. 'The Grim Muse' is for sure the most introspective album, fuelled by personal and rather unpleasant experiences – be it disappointment with ideologies, disillusion with people, the overall urge to rise above the mediocrity. With time comes that conclusion that life's not necessarily black and white and we all are bound to taste both sooner or later.

4. Originally the band was called 'Over The Edge', what was the decision behind the name change and also the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'In Twilight's Embrace'?

Some of us started Over The Edge with the intent of playing metallic hardcore punk. At the teenage stage of our lives, we've all been involved in the local hardcore punk community in Poznan, Poland. In fact, we're still friends with many people being a part of it. In Twilight's Embrace, which we switched into in a result of our music taking more and more metal direction, is a critical reflection upon the state of mankind. Slowly we witness our twilight.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you
describe your stage performance?

There's been quite a few landmarks in our touring history. As a relatively young and unknown band from Poland, we toured Russia in summer 2006. I still remember the Tabula Rasa Club in Moscow packed to the fullest, with people jumping off the mezzanine. Our short Baltic States tour in 2007 was also a blast, especially the shows in Riga where the crowd went completely crazy and the city of Liepaja, which stroke me so much, that I've titled a song on 'The Grim Muse' after that memory. Fast forward into more contemporary gigs, we had a blast sharing with stage with At the Gates earlier this year in Warsaw, Poland. What I like the most about our stage performance is that with each gig it gets more and more intuitional. I like the mixture of solemn atmosphere, danger and spontaneity while on stage. That's what I think a good rock'n'roll show is about – breaking free and letting go.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Well, three days after the record is released, we're gonna play at 21th anniversary of Rozbrat, a legendary squat in our hometown and one of the oldest such places in Poland. In December, we'll play in Wroclaw along Dead Congregation and Shirenc Plays Pungent Stench inter alia. We're also thinking about playing a tour at the beginning of 2016, but it's too early to reveal any details now.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?

Honestly, I have no clue. We've got some coverage by major titles as RockHard, MetalSucks and Metal Hammer with our previous record, but it's hard to say if media have any impact on people's musical interests these days or are rather following these interests. We're lucky to have a diverse fanbase – part of it are metalheads, part of it hardcore punk people. Seeing our stuff appeal to different groups is very rewarding.

8.Are any of the band members also involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Marcin also plays bass in black/thrash metal commando Bloodthirst from Poznan. Leszek played with them too as a session live guitarist. Some of us also had a certain side project, which is now on hold, but who knows what the future holds? 

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

As I said by the way of discussing our live performance, it all gets constantly more and more intuitional. I'd also like to apply that to the writing process for the next album – more improvisation, more urgency and more madness would make up for a perfect creative rot. I think we will still hold true to the death metal realm, however we're up for challenge more than ever now.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I was raised on the classic hard rock/heavy metal of the 70's – Sabbath, Purple, Led Zeppelin – though Maiden are my number one band of all time. As a band, we however draw inspiration from a huge variety of groups: Asphyx, Dissection, At the Gates, Entombed, Sentenced, Dismember, even Paradise Lost to give you a few examples. Apart from them, the band that's always been a huge inspiration for me is Armia, a pioneering hardcore punk group from Poland. Their landmark album, 'Legenda' (1991), is darker than the majority of Black Metal ever released. Among my current favorites are the new albums from Chelsea Wolfe, King Dude, Tribulation, Myrkur and Publicist UK.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

I like to read in my spare time. Back in the day it was mostly fiction like Swedish crime stories, but now I'm more into literary reportage. Besides, I'm a film guy with a taste in variety of genres: I like thrillers by Denis Villeneuve, although I was also blown away by Inarritu's 'Birdman' and the murderous silence of Zvyagintsev's 'Leviathan'. Not so much a series guy, but the first season of 'True Detective' was a masterpiece. As for the other guys, our guitarist Leszek is one of these new-born runners, Piotr likes photography, Marcin runs his own Left Hand Sound recording studio and Dawid plays basketball.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Re-Armed/TotalLack Of Communication2015 EP Review

  Re-Armed  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  groove,  thrash  and  melodic death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "Total  Lack  Of  Communication"  which  will  be  released  August 21st.

A  very  fast  and  heavy  sound starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  aggressive  screams  and  after  awhile elements  of  thrash  and  groove  metal  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  lead are  added  into  the  music.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  mix  in  hardcore  style  vocals  and  death  metal  growls  and  the  ep  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  sound  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording  and   the  songs  remain  true  to  a  more  modern  style  of  extreme  metal.
 
Re-Armed   plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  modern  thrash  and  groove  metal  and  mixes  it  with  melodic  death  metal  as  well  as  continuing  the  style  established  on  previous  recordings,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  Pessimism  and  Society  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Re-Armed  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Meant To  Be  Broken". 8  out  of  10.     

Abhorrent Deformity Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?



Mark: My name is Mark. I like to eat peanut butter and I do vocals in Abhorrent Deformity. We are a brutal death band from the Charlotte…well I live in Charlotte area.



Dave: My name is Dave, I’m a beer snob and the bassist.  We’re all from around the Charlotte area; I live in Lake Wylie, our drummer Matthew lives in Cherryville, and our guitarist Jason lives in Huntersville.  We’re just four dudes that like to play death metal.



2.So far you have released a demo and also have your first full length coming out during the end of October, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both recordings?



Mark: I feel from a vocalist stand point, we wanted to deliver something a little bit different than what was on the demo. While I was not featured on the demo, although do enjoy the vocals on it, We as a band wanted to do a little bit more in that regards and expand on vocal range. The diversity is pitches/tones is something I’m personally proud with. I think the dynamics make it a bit more interesting.



Dave:  To expand on what Mark was saying, we were wanting to fine tune our sound.  The demo was a great at the time, but at this point it’s a dated representation of our band.  Over time, and through member changes, we’ve been able to find what we feel is our ideal sound, and that identity is what we’re showcasing with our full length.       



3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?



Mark: A lot of the lyrical topics I wanted to touch on were based on the evil of humans, in a nut shell. When I had joined the band, the album title was already decided upon but the lyrical content was blank so I had a lot of fun figuring out how to twist it and elaborate upon it. I have a lot of religious undertones to the songs, which certainly shines through on “Crown of Worms,” “Entity of Malevolence” and “Baptized in Embalming Fluid.” I know the vocals are aggressive and a little hard to decipher but Baptized has a lyric video so that should help it a tad bit. Religion is something I’m infatuated with neither in the pro or con sense, if one reads the lyrics I’m sure it’ll show. A few other topics we touch on are just horror and some gore, but in a more story telling nature. ”Skeleton Carver” is just a small insight on the heroin/drug problem I’ve seen, while “Buried Beneath Human Remains” is a less “personal” song, if you could call it that since it has to do with just killing so many people and burying them. It would seem that after a while there is no more dirt and they are just being buried underneath other forgotten people. As I’ve said before, I wanted to touch upon anything I could create a tangible tale of how we are the Entity of Malevolence.



4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Abhorrent Deformity'?



Dave: The meaning of Abhorrent Deformity- It’s a malformation that inspires disgust.  The inspiration behind our name- I wish there was some elaborate story behind it all, but really, we wanted a name that corresponded with the music we were writing.  We would have used a different name that had the same meaning, but One Direction was already taken.  



5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?



Dave: I would have to say that the Albany Metal Fest in Georgia, and our last show in Shelby, North Carolina were the most memorable shows for me.  I’m originally from Georgia, and it’s rare that you see “large underground” shows these days.  One of my friends (James Gillham of Invert the Idols) is working towards changing that.  In February he hosted the Albany Metal Fest in Albany, GA.  This was the first time a Metal Fest had been held there in almost a decade.  The whole experience was very nostalgic for me.  Most of the bands there had members that I had played shows with as a kid.  The show was a success, the town welcomed us with open arms, and overall it was just humbling to see everyone working together to preserve the music scene.  We were very grateful to have been included.   –As for our show in Shelby, NC… It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to play inside of a steel cage at an MMA Gym.  That was an experience.



6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?



Mark: After the album is released we are planning on doing a handful of short stints. There will be a few one off dates here and there but we will be mainly looking to do those stints and deathfests. Personally, the more death fests the better in my book! If anyone’s interested – our email and band page get checked daily. ;)



Dave:  Mark, Matthew and I are in in college right now, so that keeps our schedules limited at times.  However, we all enjoy doing this, so we’ll be on the road every chance we get.     



7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the deal you have signed with Comatose Music?



Dave:  We signed with Comatose Music last year to put out our album “Entity of Malevolence.”  Steve (owner of Comatose Music) has been a tremendous help to us during this whole process.  He hired Marco Hasmann to do our album art, helped out with recording costs, is taking care of distribution, set us up with PR, and has been very interactive during the writing/recording process.

 

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of brutal death metal?



Mark: I’ve not really looked at much of feed back since the demo had nothing to do with me, though I will admit to being curious how the album will be received. I know it is something we are proud of and looking to expand upon on the future releases.



Dave: I would say that the reaction has been great, not only from fans of brutal death metal, but also from fans of death metal in general.  I’m sure that we’ll have naysayers, but that’s something you have to be prepared for and accept as a musician.  We don’t expect to please everyone, we just want to put out music that we’re all proud of and enjoy playing.

    

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?



Dave: In the future, I see Abhorrent Deformity moving forward and continuing to evolve.  “Entity of Malevolence” is a true representation of the band, but we don’t intend to recreate this album the next go-round.  We just plan to keep true to who we are as musicians, and to continue writing brutal music.   



10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?



Mark: I really don’t listen to much death metal or things of that nature. The bands I do listen to, I love them. Deicide, Alterbeast is solid, I will always love Lamb of God, Dillinger Escape Plan and “The Rain in the Endless Fall” by Prayer for Cleansing. Oddly enough, I love a lot of indie rock, mainstream pop music and rap. As far as that goes, I’ve been killing the new Walk the Moon, Melanie Martinez – she was on the voice for a short bit a few seasons back but her solo stuff is awesomely errie, the new Mumford and Sons….and 1989 by Taylor Swift are all current favs. I’ve also been listening to a much of Deniro Farrar, he is a local Charlotte rapper. I think he is on Warner Brothers? anway, Drake, Yo Gotti. 50 Cent/G-unit, Jeezy, TI…I could go on but I’m going to stop. We all have guilty pleasures man. Don’t judge me.



Dave: Growing up, I was listening to a lot of Hardcore Punk, Grindcore, Death Metal, and “Mathcore.”  I would say those are the styles that influenced how I play. Some of the bands that I really got into back then were; Converge, Daughters, PsyOpus, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cephalic Carnage, Pig Destroyer, Origin, and The Locusts.  My love for brutal death was actually stemmed from The Locusts.  One of my friends told me that their drummer, Dave Astor, was playing in a band called Pathology.  I checked them out and my whole world was turned upside down.  I didn’t know what to think of it at first other than, “This is so brutal!”  Nowadays, I meanly listen to tech death and brutal death.  The bands I’ve really been enjoying lately are; Brain Drill, Disentomb, Pathology, Ingested, Antropofagus, Dysentery, and Atrocious Abnormality.     



11.What are some of your non musical interests?



Mark: I really enjoy watching professional wrestling, I follow Ring of Honor, PWG and CZW as much as possible. I also try to go to local ones like PWX anytime I can. I also enjoy cooking. I tend to cook a lot of veg friendly stuff. I also really enjoy making art, in fact I made a few of our shirts that will be offered for pre-order with our upcoming CD.



Dave:  I’m a comic nerd.  If you ever want to geek out- I’m your guy.  I could talk your ear off all day long, but don’t mistake me for being one of those antisocial/nerdy types.  To balance it out, I’m also into hunting, archery, shooting guns, and as I previously mentioned- I am a beer snob.  I love going to local breweries and having one of everything.  I was recently in Asheville, NC, and there’s a brewery around every corner.  I don’t remember much of that trip, but my bank statements would attest to the fact that I probably had a pretty great time.

Indignity/Decrepitude/2015 Demo Review

  Indignity  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  gore/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  demo  "Decrepitude".

  A very  heavy  and  brutal  death metal  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  and  a  few  seconds  later  growls  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  some  of  the  riffs  utilizing  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  groove  in  all  of  the  tracks.

  Most  of  the  music  goes  for  more  of  a  mid  paced  style  of  brutal  death  metal  while  the  music  also speeds  up  at  times  and  brings  in  blast  beats  along  with  some  early  90's  influences  but  done  in  more  of  a  brutal  fashion  and  the  few  seconds  of  guitar  leads  also  remain  true  to  death  metla  and  there  are  no  soft  or  clean  parts  ever  being  utilized.

  Indignity  plays  a  style  of  brutal  death  metal  that  is  more  rooted  in  the  90's  style  of  the  genre  and  also  mixes  the  Polish  and  American  styles  together  to  create  a  very  heavy  sounding  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  demo  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Indignity  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Soldier  Of  My  Own".  8  out  of  10.

  

    

 

Abhorrent Deformity/Entity Of Malevolence/Comatose Music/2015 CD Review

  Abhorrent  Deformity  are  a  band  from  North  Carolina  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death/gore  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Entity  Of  Malevolence"  which  will  be  rleeased  in  October  by  Comatose  Music.

  Dark  sound  effects  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  death  metal  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  guttural  growls  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  screams  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  A  small  amount  of  melody  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  riffs  while  the  main  focus  remains  on  brutality  while  some  of  the  mid  tempo  parts  bring  in  a  touch  of  the  east  coast  death metal  style  and  sound  effects  also  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  giving  the  songs  more  of  a  horror  movie  feeling  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  elements  of  grind  and  all  of  the  tracks  avoid  using  any  solos  or  leads.

  Abhorrent  Deformity  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  heavy  and  brutal  in the  true  east  coast  fashion  and  every  second  and  minute  of  the  recording  is  all  induced  in  brutality,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore  and  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Abhorrent  Deformity  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album>  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Crown  Of  Worms"  "Buried  Beneath  Human  Remains"  "Enshrine d In  Putrid  Decay"  and  "Casket  maker".  8  out  of  10. 

Obediance To Dictator/Hogzilla/2015 EP Review

  Obedience  To  Dictator  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  sci-fi  mixture  of  death  metal  and  deathcore  along  with  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "Hogzilla".

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  drums,  heavy  yet  melodic  riffs  as  well  as  a  great  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast beats  are  utilized  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slwo,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  The  music  is  very  much  balanced  between  the  melodic  and  brutal  styles  of  death  metal  while  elements  of  deathcore  and  black  metal  can  also  be  heard  and  spoken  word  samples  also  make  their  return  in   certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  solos  and  leads  they  are  done  in  more  of  a  melodic  fashion v and  one  track  also  samples  Dead  Can  Dance  before  returning  back  to  a heavier  direction.

  Obedience  To  Dictator  creates  another  brutal  recording  that  mixes  death  metal  and  deathcore  together  with  a  blackened  touch  while  also  being  very  melodic  at  the  same  time,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording while  the  lyrics  cover  sci-fi  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Obedience  To  Dictator  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  death,  black  metal  and  deathcore,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Solar  Warden"  and  "Let  Me  Sleep  (We  Have  to  Fight)".  8  out  of  10.

Fully Consumed/Incedium/2014 Full Length Review

  Fully  Consumed are  a  band  from  Ohio  that  plays  a  very  brutal  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  album  "Incedium".

  A  very fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  blast beats and a  good  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  and  the  leads  are  very  melodic and  technical  while  the  vocals  also  get  very  guttural  at  times  and  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  melody  in  the  guitar  riffing  at  times  as  well  as  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill.

  Most  of  the  songs  are  rooted  in  the  more  modern  and  brutal  style  of  technical  death  metal  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  of  the  vocals  almost  have  a  deathcore  feeling  to  them  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  is  utilized  on the  last  track  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts.

  Fully  Consumed  plays  a  very  brutal  style  of  death  metal  that  also  gets  very  technical  and  they  mix  in  a  lot  of  skill  and  technical  elements  into  the  brutality  to create  a  very  heavy  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  Cynical  Condemnation  Of  Society,  Government, Religion  and  Human  Mishaps.

  In  my  opinion  Fully  Consumed  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  and  technical  death  metal  band  and  if you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Soul  Possession"  "Genetic  Predisposition  To  Warfare"  "Engaging  Ghosts"  and  "Virtual  Vail".  8  out  of  10.

   

Bowel Stew/Debridement/Pathologically Explicit Recordings/2015 CD Review

  Bowel  Stew  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  gore/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Debridement"  which  was  released  by  Pathologically  Explicit  Recordings.

  Horror  movie  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  brutal  and  fast  death  metal  direction  along  with  some  guttural  growls  and  the  speed also  brings  in  a  touch  of  grindcore  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  morbid  sounding  melodies  at  times  and  the  music  mostly  sticks  to  a  very  fast  musical  direction.

  A  lot  of  the  riffs  on  the  recording  utilize  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  and  brings  in  a  very  modern  and  brutal  approach  to  death  metal  while  you  can  still  hear  some  old school  death  and  grind  influences  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  small  amount  of  mid  tempo  riffs  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  they  close  the  album  with  a  cover  of  Brodequin's  "Hollow".    

  Bowel  Stew  plays a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  fast,  raw,  brutal  and  guttural  soundign  and  manage  to  create  an  album  of  non  stop  brutality,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore,  horror  and  sex  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Bowel  Stew  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  and  guttural  gore/death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hung,  Gutted  and  Degloved" "Gaunching  Torture" "Infected  With  Syphillis"  and  "Hollow".  8  out  of  10.

  Dawn  Of  Chaos  are  a  band from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "The  Need  To  Feed"  which  was  released  by  UKEM  Records.

  A  very  heavy,  brutal  and  old  school  death  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  growls  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  use  melodies  while  the  vocals  also  get  very  guttural  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  90's  influences  in the  bands  musical  style.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  of  death  metal  while  some  songs  also  bring  in  more  of  a  modern  style  of  the  genre  while  some  of  the  faster  sections  also  bring  in  a  touch  of  grindcore  while  the  last  track  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  high  pitched  screams.

  Dawn  Of  Chaos  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  brutal  and  mixes  the  old  school  and   modern  variations  of  the  genre  to  create  a  very  heavy  sounding  album,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  gore,  cannibalism  and  political  themes.

  Kraanium  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a very  brutal  and  guttural  form  of  gore/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Chronicles  Of  Perversion"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Comatose  Music.

  Spoken  word  samples start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  death  metal  direction  along  with  some  guttural  growls  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  elements  of  slam  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  apced  and  fast  parts  with  the  faster  sections  also  using  blast  beats.

  Melodies  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffs  and the  songs  also  bring  in  a  lot  of  New  York  and  East  Coast  death  metal  influences  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  spoken  word  samples  also  make  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  while  solos  and  leads  are  absent  on  the  earlier  songs  they  do  show  up  on  later  tracks  and  are  done  in  a  more melodic  fashion.

  Kraanium  creates  another  death  metal  album  that  is  very  heavy,  brutal  and  guttural  while  also  keeping  the  slam  elements  of  previous  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore,  torture,  sodomy,  and  rape  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Kraanium  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Human  Skin  Fuck  Doll"  "Chronicles  Of  Perversion"  "Rusty  Knife  Defloration"  and  "Revistate  to  Mutilate".  8  out  of  10.    

   

Parricide/Crude/Defense Records/2015 CD Re-Issue Review

  Parricide  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  played  a  brutal  style  of  death  metal  with  a  touch  of  grind  on  this  recording  and  this is  a  review  of  their  1999  album  "Crude"  which  was  re-issued  in  2015  by  Defense  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  death  metal sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  before  adding  in  growls  and  melodic  riffs  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  brings  a  great  amount  of  melody  to  the  recording  while  also  being  chaotic  at  times.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  remain  true  to  the  style  of  death  metal  that  was  big  at  times  and  some  of  the  faster  parts  also  bring  in  elements  of  grindcore  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  Florida  influences in  the bands  musical  style  and some  of  the  riffs  also  get technical  at  times  and  every  second  and  minute  of  the  recording  sticks  to  a  heavy  musical  direction. 

  Parricide  played a  style  of  death  metal  that  was  brutal  for  its  time  on  this  recording  and  also  brings  in  a  touch  of  grind  while  still  being  mostly  in the  death  metal  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Society,  Destruction,  Gore  and  Hypocrisy  Of  Religion.


  In  my  opinion  Parricide  are  a  very  great  sounding  death  metal  band  with a   touch  of  grind  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nothing  Twice"  "Indignation"  "Intoxicating  Despair"  and  "Lofty  Rhetoric".  8  out  of  10.

  Horror  movie  samples  start  off  the   ep  before  going  for  more  of  a  fast  and  brutal  form  of  death  metal   along  with  some  growls  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  slows  down  elements  of  slam  are  utilized  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  and  epic  sounding  at  times  along  with  a  trace  of  symphonic  sounds  and  the  music  is  perfectly  balanced  between  both  old  school  and  modern  death  metal  and  clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the   recording  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  in  a  melodic  musical  direction.

  Gorepunch  are  a  band  from  Ohio  that  plays  a  mixture  of  brutal  death  metal  and  gore/grind  and  this  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Give  Em'  Hell"  which  will  be  released  on August  25th  by  Seeing  Red  Records.

  Dark  sound effects  start  off  the  album  giving  the music  a  feeling  of  a  horror  movie  soundtrack  and  spoken  word samples  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  after  the  intro  the  music goes   for  a  very  fast  and  brutal,  technical  death/grind  sound  along  with  a  great  amount of  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams.

  Death  metal   growls  and  screams  mix  together  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  the  riffs  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  bringing  a  melodic  death  metal  sound  to  the  songs  and  solos  and  leads  are  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  while the  music  sounds  very   modern  a  lot  of  90's  influences  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording.

  Gorepunch  plays  a  musical  style  that  mixes  brutal  death  metal  and  grindcore  together  along  with  a  great  amount of  melody  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  gore  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Gorepunch  are  a  very  great  sounding  of  melodic,  brutal  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Darkness  Rising"  "Dead  &  Breakfast"  and  "Open  Casket".  8  out  of  10.
