Atoll are a band from Phoenix, Arizona that plays a brutal form of slam death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Fallout Frenzy" which will be released in November by Gore House Productions.
Horror movie samples start off the album before adding in melodic riffing along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them which also leads to a more brutal direction as well as introducing death metal growls and high pitched screams onto the recording.
Elements of slam can be heard in the mid tempo sections of the songs while the vocals also get very guttural at times along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the riffs also bringing in a decent amount of melody at times and horror movie samples also make a brief return as the album progresses and on the closing track synths and clean playing is also used briefly.
Atoll plays a style of slam death metal that is very brutal sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover xenomorphs, aliens, extinction, the human virus and violent brutality themes.
In my opinion Atoll are a very great sounding brutal slam death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Forced Xenotransplantation" "The Dripping Dead" "Eternal Prolapse" and "Cadeverous". 8 out of 10.
