Aethereus are a band from Tacoma, Washington that plays a very technical, progressive and melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Absentia" which will be released on August 10th by The Artisan Era.
Classical guitars and atmospheric soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier direction along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic and technical style while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of blast beats as well as the vocals being a mixture of death metal growls and screams.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some piano's, whispers and spoken word parts also being used briefly as well as the music also getting very progressive and atmospheric at times, a few of the tracks are instrumentals and they also add in a couple of songs that are very long and epic in length.
Aethereus plays a style of death metal that is very melodic, progressive and technical sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are based upon the Kubler-Ross 5 Stages Of Grief.
In my opinion Aethereus are a very great sounding technical, progressive and melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cascade Lights" "Fluorescent Halls of Decay" and "The Pale Beast". 8 out of 10.
