Æpoch are a band from Ontario, Canada that plays a melodic, technical and progressive form of death metal with some elements of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 album "Awakening Inception".
A very heavy thrash influenced sound starts off the album along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly deep death metal growls as well as the music getting very technical at times and when screams are utilized they add in a touch of black metal.
Blast beats can also be heard during the faster sections of the songs while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody along with the music also bringing in progressive elements at timed as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic and technical style and throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses clean playing can also be heard briefly on some of the tracks.
Æpoch plays a musical style that mixes the brutal, technical, progressive and melodic sides of death metal along with some elements of black and thrash metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover alternative history, esoteric, anti religion, space and corruption themes.
in my opinion Æpoch are a very great sounding melodic, progressive and technical death metal band with elements of thrash and black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Time Perspective(Ouroboros Rec=born)" "Tabula Rasa" "Burn Them At the Stakes" and "Awakening Inception". 8 out of 10.
