Purveyors Of The Underworld/Inverted Cross Records/2012 CD Compilation Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  compilation  called  "Purveyors  Of  The  Underworld"  which  was  released  by  Inverted  Cross  Records  during  the  year  of  2012  and  we  will  review  the  songs  one  by  one/

  Admus  brings  us  "Order  666"  a  very  melodic  sounding  raw  and  primitive  satanic  black  metal  song  with  high  pitched  screams.

  Next  up  is  Morbus  666  with  "Those  Of  The  Devils  Flesh"  a  raw  and  primitive  sounding  satanic  black  metal  screams  with  some  high  pitched  screams  as  well  some  deep  demonic  growls.

  Next  up  is  Cernunnos  with  "Ex  Cathedra'  a  long  and  epic  sounding  symphonic  black  metal  song  that  is  more  raw  and  primitive  sounding  than  most  bands  of  this  genre  with  some  clean  singing  being  mixed  in  briefly  with  the  high  pitched  screams

  Next  up  is  Ophiuchus  with  "Horns  Of  Abomination"  a  blackended  death  metal  song  with  a  mixture  of  deep  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Next  up  is  Mysteriarch  with  "Solace  Beneath  A  Shroud"  a  very  symphonic  sounding  black  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Dismemberment  with  "Perpetual  Malice"  a  very  meldoci  sounding  song  that  combines  black  and  thrash  metal  together.

  Next  up  is  Terminate  with  "Chainsaw  Dismemberment"  a  song  that  mixes  grindcore  with  death  and  thrash  metal.

  Next  up  is  Manic  Scum  with  "Putrefy"  a  very  short  song  that  combines  brutal  death  metal  with  grindcore.

  Next  up  is  Ectovid  with  "Emanating  Spectral    Vapor"  a  very  dark  and  old  school  sounding  death metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Oakmoon  with  "As  The  Black  Moon  Rises"  a  very  atmospheric  sounding  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Malignant  Christ  with  "Engulf  Thyself  With  Blackness"  another  blasphemous  death  metal  song  from  this  band.

  Next  up  is  Goatfucker  with  "The  Blood  Of  Civilation'  a  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  blacck  metal  song  from  this  satanic  band.

  Closing  the  compilation  is  Accursed  Aeons  with  "VI"  a  very  melodic  sounding  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  song  with  a  dark  atmosphere.

  In  conclusion    I  feel  this  is  a  great  compilation  and  I  would  recommend  this  to  all  fans  of  black  metal,  death  metal  and  grindcore.  RECOMMENDED  BUY>

Malignant Christ/Ageless Reign/Inverted Cross Records/2012 CD Review

  Malignant  Christ  are  a  band  from  Tennesse  that  has  been  featured  in  this  zine  before  with  a  musical  style  on  this  recording  being  dark  and heavy  death  metal  with  a  blackened  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Ageless  Reign"  which  was  released  by  Inverted  Cross  Records.

  Drums range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  black  metal  influences  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  are  very  early  90's  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

    Vocals  are  all  deep  death  metal  growls  that  have  a  very dark  sound  to t hem,  while t he  lyrics  cover  satanism,  blasphemy  and  gore  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy, r aw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Malignant  Christ  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ageless  Reign"  "Melted  Into  Gold"  and  "Engulf  Thyself  Into  Blackness".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

  Cystic Dysentery  are  a  band  from  Florida  that  plays  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  form  of  gore/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Culture  Of  Death"  which  was  released  by  Deathgasm  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  with  some  slam  elements  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  with  some  high  pitched  screams  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the lyrics  cover  violent and  gore  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  brutal  and  professional sound  to  it  where you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Cystic  Dysentry  are  a  very  great  sounding  heavy  and  brutal  gore/death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dead  Priest"  "Engulfed  In  Feces"  and  "Born  By  Fire".  RECOMMENDED  BUY..

  Malignant  Christ  are  a  band  from  Tennessee  that  plays  a  very  satanic  and  blasphemous  form  of  death  metal  with  a  blackened  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Forever  In  Chaos"  which  was  released  by  Forbidden  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of brutal  sounding  blast beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs t hat  are  very  90's  sounding,  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  style  riffing  that  has  a  small  amount  of  black  metal  influences  to  them,  while  the  lead  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  are  very  dark  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos and  leads.

  Vocals  are  all  deep  sounding  death  metal  growls  that  utilize  some  guttural  elements  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples,  while    the  lyrics  cover  satanic,  dark,  gore,   and  blasphemous  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Malignant  Christ  are  a  very  great  sounding  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  satanic  death  metal  band  with  a  blackened  edge  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Forever  In  Chaos"  "Mutilation  Ritual"  "Blaspheming  The  Impious"  and  "The  Torches  Of  Sodomy".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.  

Dehumanized/Controlled Elite/Comatose Music/2012 CD Review

   Dehumanized  are  a  band  from  New  York  that h as  been  around  since  the  90's  that  plays  a  slam style  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Controlled  Elite"  which  was  released  by  Comatose  Music.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  brutal  sounding  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  slam  style  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  in  the  mid  90;s  tradition  with  some  melodies  being thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  sounding  death  metal  growls  with  some  high  pitched  screams  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times  that  bring  a  grindcore  feeling  to  the  music  as  well  as  a  brief  spoken  word  sample,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  violent  and  evil  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to m it.

  In  my  opinion  Dehumanized  are  a  very  great  sounding  heavy  and  brutal  slam  style  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Man  vs  Man"  "None  Shall  Remain"  "Set  In  Stone"  and  "Bloodties".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

  

Deus Otiosus/Godless/Deepsend/2012 CD Review

  Deus  Otiosus  are  a  band  from  Denmark  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  I  musical  style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  old  school  sounding  death  metal  with  influences  from  thrash  and  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Godless" which  was  released  by  Deepsound.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing h as  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  old  school  style  death  metal  riffs  that  utilize  some  influences  from t hrash  and  black  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  range  from  deep death  metal  growls  to high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  Occult  and  anti  christian  themes, a s  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Deus  Otiosis  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Snakes  Of  The  Law"  "Pest  Grave"  and  "Cast  From  Heaven".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

  Nominon  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style that  I  would  describe  as  being  blasphemous  and  satanic  death  metal  with  a  blackened  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "The  Cleansing"  which  was  released  by  Deathgasm  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into t he  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem.
