M.H.X's Chronicles.Infinite Ocean/2015 Full Length Review

  M.H.X's  Chronicles  are  a  band  from  Brazil  that  plays  a  very  progressive  and  melodic  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  album  "Infinite  Ocean".

  Ocean  and  nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  seconds  later  atmospheric  and  symphonic  synths  and  orchestra's  are  added onto  the  recording  along  with  some  tribal  beats  and  you can  also  hear  a  small  amount  of  operatic  female  vocals  and  after  the into  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  heavy  and  melodic  musical  direction.

  Melodic  guitar  leads  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  faster  sections  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  vocals  also  use  a  good  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams  and  the  music  also  alternates  between  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  acoustic  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  gives  the music  more  of  a  progressive  feeling. 

  Some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  singing  and  the  heavy  parts  also  mix  in  with  the  symphonic  elements  at  times and  there  are  also  a  couple  of  tracks  that  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this recording  and  some tracks  also  bring  in  elements  of  groove  metal  and  one  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  Michael  Oliveira  from  Seven  Seals  Of  The  Apocalypse  and  they also  bring  in  a  cover  of  "Amazing  Grace"  before  closing  the  album  with  2  original  tracks.

  M.H.X's  Chronicles  plays  a  style  of  melodic  death  metal  that  is  in  the  more  modern  style  and  also  mixes  in  a  lot  of  symphonic  and  progressive  elements  to  create  their  own  style,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  are  based  on  The  Chronicles  Of  Narnia  by  C.S  Lewis.

  In  my  opinion  M.H.X's Chronicles  are  a  very  great  sounding  symphonic,  progressive  and  melodic  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Conquest  Of  The  Oceans"  "This  Way  Home"  and  "A  Winter  Song".  8  out  of  10.

Carnivora/The Vision/Manshark Entertainment/2015 EP Review

  Carnivora  are  a  band  from  Massachusetts  that  plays  a  modern  mixture  of  melodic  death  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  ep  "The  Vision"  which  was released  by  Manshark  Entertainment.

  A  very  fast  and  melodic  death  metal  sound   starts  of the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  while t he  mid  paced  sections  bring  in  elements  of  groove  metal  and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  utilize  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  While  the  music  sounds  very  modern  you  can  hear  elements  of  90's  era  Swedish  melodic  death  metal  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  some  of  the  screams  bring  in  a  touch  of  metalcore and  some  of the  riffs  bring  in  thrash  influences  and  one  of  the  songs  has a  slight  symphonic  touch  while  the  music  focuses  more  on  guitars  and  traditional  metal  instruments  and  they  all  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Carnivora  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  melodic  death  metal  but  also  brings  in  a  touch  of  groove  and  modern  metal  into  their  musical  style,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  christian  themes.   

  In  my  opinion  Carnivora  are  a  very  great sounding  mixture  of  melodic  death  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Vision  In  Red"  and  "The  Reek  Of Defeat".  8  out  of  10.


 

Either Way/Behind The Light/2015 Full Length Review

  Either  Way  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  very  melodic  form of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released 2015  album  "Behind  The  Light"  which  will  be  released  on  June  15th.

  Dark  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  use  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  a  few  seconds  later  the  keyboard  parts  start  mixing  in  with  the  more  heavier  side  of  the  music  as  well  as  introducing  melodic  guitar  leads  that  also  become  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  and  the  riffs  also start  using  more  melodies  after  the  intro.

  When  vocals  are  added  into  the  music  they  are  grim screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them and  the  music  at  times  also  adds  in  elements  of  modern  prog  metal  and  after  awhile  some  of  the  tracks  start  utilizing  more  traditional  death  metal  growls  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  singing  and  the  songs  also  stick  mostly  to  a  mid  paced  musical  direction.

  Either  Way  plays  a  style  of  melodic  death  metal t hat  is  very  modern,  heavily  dominated  by  keyboards  and  also  brings  in  a  touch  of  prog  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Either  Way  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Redemption"  "Evil  In  Me"  "Trouble  In  My  Mind"  and "Black  Soul".  8  out  of  10. 

 

Inhuman Depravity/Nocturnal Carnage by The Unholy Desecrator/Coyote Records/2015 CD Review

  Inhuman  Depravity  are  a  band  from  Turkey  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death metal  with  a touch  of  grind  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "/Nocturnal Carnage by The Unholy Desecrator"  which  was released  by  Coyote  Records.

  Horror  movie  samples  start off  the  album  which  leads  up  to  a  very  brutal  death  metal  sound  along  with  some  deep  and  guttural  growls  as  well  as  a  great amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  there  are  also  some  high  pitched  screams  being  utilized.

  Some  parts  of  the  songs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the solos  and  leads they  band  utilizes  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them and  the faster  sections  of  the  songs  have a  touch  of  grindcore  and  the  band  plays  more  of  a  modern  style  of  brutal  death  metal  while  you  can  still  hear  influences  from  the  90's  New  York  style  and  the  whole  album sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  direction  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Inhuman  Depravity  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  brutal  and  fast  and  also  brings  in  a  touch  of grindcore,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  sadism,  anti  religion  and  darkness  themes.

  In my  opinion  Inhuman  Depravity  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dismembered  And  Buried  Instincts"  "Apocalyptic Mass  Murder  Oath"  "Carnivorous  Offering"  and  "Salvation  Through  Bloodvomit".  8  out  of  10.     

Reincarnation/Void/Xtreem Music/2015 CD Compilation Review

  Reincarnation  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  very  brutal  style  of  death  metal  with  an  early  touch  of  slam  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  compilation  "Void"  which  was  released by  Xtreeem  Music  and  consists  of  the  album  with  the  same  title  from  1997  and  their  1995  ep "Seed  Of  Hate"  and  a  few  promo  and live  tracks.

  Horror  sound  effects  start  off  the  compilation  before  adding  in  drum  beats  that  takes  the  music  into  a  more  brutal  and  slamming  style  of  death  metal  that  also  uses  growls  that  are  on  the  more  guttural  end  while  some  more  traditional  style  of growling  is  also used  as  well  as  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  music  also  brings  in  melodies  at  times.

  When  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  remain  true  to  the  90's  style  of  death  metal  and all  of the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and the  music  also  has  a  lot  of  influences  from  the  New  York  style  that  was  huge  in  the  underground  at  the  time  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  of  the  faster  sections  also  bring  in  a  touch  of  grind  at  times  and  the  whole  compilation  tsticks  to  a  heavy  and  brutal  style  from  opening  to  closing  tracks. 

  Reincarnation  played  a  style  of  death  metal  on  these recordings that  was  very  brutal  for  the  90's  and  was  also  heavily  influenced  by  the  New  York  bands  and  you  can  also  hear  elements  in  the  bands  musical  style  that  later  bands  took  to  create  a  style  of  death  metal  that  became  known  as  'slam',  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  hatred  and  marijuana  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Reincarnation  are  a  very great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fucking  Race"  "Subhuman  Level"  "The  Horror  Within"  and  "Devoted To  Cannibas".  8  out of  10.

Scarnival/The Art Of Suffering/Kernkraftritter Records/2015 CD Review

  Scarnival  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  melodic  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "The  Art  Of  Suffering"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Kernkraftritter  Records.

  Spoken  word  samples  and  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  growls  that  also  takes  the  music  into  a  more  heavy  and  melodic style  of  death  metal  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  after  awhile  clean  singing  and  high  pitched  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  talent,  skill  and  melody.

  Most  of t he  songs  go  for  more  of  a  modern  style of  melodic  death  metal  while  you  can  still  hear  influences  from  the  mid  90's  Swedish  bands  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  be  heard in certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  some  songs  use  a  small  amount of  vocals  that  are  more  influenced  by  hardcore  and  groove  metal.

  Scarnival  plays  a  style  of  melodic  death  metal  that  has  its  roots  in  the  mid  90's  Swedish  style  but  also  mix  in  a  great  amount  of  modern  metal  influences to  create  a  more  up  to  date  sound,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  real  life  and  philosophical  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Scarnival  are  a  very  great sounding  melodic  death  metal  band  and  if  you are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "God  Given"  "Losing  Identity"  "Pathetic"  and  "Lies".  8  out  of  10. 

Amanita Virosa Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

-We're a six piece band from Finland, where Santa wears a corpse paint and eats cabbage and drinks blood.

2.Recently you have released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

-Melnik13: Well it sounds pretty much like us. Cold and beautiful.

3.The band labels their music as 'hospital metal', can you tell us a little bit more about this term?

-Clamors: we didn't know how to label our sound, so the "hospital" add is there because we have some kind of fetish about hospitals and the props there... You can see that in our live performance and pictures and some lyrics. I find it a little erotic.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

-Clamors: the main topic is hate and desperation in various forms and what happens at the appointment. Conquering desperate situations also appears every now and then

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Amanita Virosa'?

-Melnik13: Amanita Virosa is latin and means a deadly mushroom called white cap toadstool. It also means "destroying angel". The inspiration came from the Finnish band Trollheim's Grott who have a song called 'Amanita Virosa' and love for mushrooms.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

-Clamors: at the stage is the only place where i feel that i have a fully open heart. Music is the main thing but it is NOT the only thing, we like to give the audience a full experience to the eyes and to the ears.
-Melnik13: They say that we are rather energetic on stage. You'd better just see it for yourself

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

-Melnik13: I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. Just follow us on Facebook for further news.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

-Clamors: it's been fucking great! Really beyond expectations

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

-Melnik13: We aim to keep our own, kinda unique sound in the future also with melodies and kick-ass mixed together. Maybe we make songs more as a band than before.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

-Clamors: I listen a lot of black metal and deathcore. Recently i found a band named Carach Angren, instantly one of my favourites! My biggest influence on starting to scream and growl probably was Whitechapel and Suicide Silence, i listen to those bands constantly
-Melnik13: My recent influences have been Polish and Norwegian black metal in general and bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse and The Haunted.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

-Clamors: Pillaging, blasphemy and denial
-Melnik13: Violence in general and in all it's forms. Denial.
