Mask Of Satan are a band from Finland that plays a horror themed orientated form of death metal with a slight black metal touch and this is a review of their 2017 album "Silent Servants - Chants of Lovecraftain Horror" which was released by Star Spawn Society.
A classic horror movie style intro starts off the album along with some keyboards and spoken word parts before going into a heavier musical direction that is also very heavily rooted in the 90's while the vocals are mostly death metal growls and when screams are utilized they add in touches of black metal.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the spoken word parts when they are utilized give the music more of a ritualistic feeling along with both the riffs and guitar leads also bringing in a decent amount of melody and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording, as the album progresses another horror interlude can also be heard before returning back to a heavier direction.
Mask Of Satan plays a style of death metal that is mostly mid tempo and heavily rooted in the early 90's while also adding in a touch of black metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover horror movies and the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion Mask Of Satan are a very great sounding horror themes death metal band with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dreadspell Ov Azathoth" "Death Lives In The Cellar Of Mr. West" and "Silent Servants". 8 out of 10.
