Mecalimb are a band from Norway that plays a melodic mixture of death, thrash and groove metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "VIII" which was released by WormHoleDeath Records.
Bell sounds start off the album before going into a very fast, heavy and melodic direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats while the vocals are a mixture of grim screams and death metal growls along with the music also mixing in elements of modern thrash and groove metal.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and as the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals can also be heard and one track also introduces classical guitars onto the recording.
Mecalimb plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in melodic death metal while also mixing in elements of modern thrash and groove metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover horror and life struggle themes.
In my opinion Mecalimb are a very great sounding mixture of melodic death, groove and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Headless Existence" "No End" "I See Dead People" ad "Nothing". 8 out of 10.
