Hitwood are a solo project from Italy that plays an instrumental mixture of melodic death and post metal and this is a review of his self released 2017 ep "As A Season Bloom".
Clean guitars start off the ep along with some melodic guitar leads that also mix in elements of post rock and drum beats and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and none of the songs ever use any vocals or lyrics and always remains instrumental.
A decent amount of melody can be heard in the guitar riffing and a couple of the tracks are long and epic in length while also mixing in a great amount of death metal influences and acoustic guitars are also utilized briefly along with a small amount of symphonic style synths and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and blast beats are added to the closing track.
Hitwood plays a musical style that takes melodic death metal and mixes it with post metal while also keeping everything instrumental to create something very original and the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording.
In my opinion Hitwood are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of melodic death and post metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Memories From A Gentle Summer Evening" and "Awakened By A Winter Blast". 8 out of 10.
