NightShade Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

Since we recorded the album « 1426 », we start planned upcoming tours accross the globe, signed with some PR and distributor to get the most exposure possible, and decided to make with E.I.E Production (team who worked with Konami and on some Yu-Gi-Oh projects) a japanese anime serie with all our songs (so ten at the end) to finallly get a short movie of 40 minutes when all of them will be released,

2.You have a new album coming out in February, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

The musical sound is metal in my opinion.
The guitars and bass, as well as the drums sounds are more agressive than previous albums, more gain and distortion, and the voice are more « audible ».
It differ in some different way, first, our previous album had always a positive message to deliver, like fighting for your dreams, always going forward, but this one is way darker, more melancolic,
There is few brutal songs but also some calm ones, and the story behind « 1426 » is not that happy.

But I think that somewhere, we keep our identity, and someone who listened to the band before can tell it's us, they will jsut see an other face of the band,

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Like i said in the previous question, instead of talking about positivity etc,,, like we did in the previous albums, this one is more about depression, wanted to to giving up, suicide, being saved by his best friends etc...
The whole album telling the story of a man who lost his loved one, and going into depression, trying to figure it out what happened in his life to arrrive to this point.
He's being saved by the strengh of his best friends but then realised it's not enough and kill himself at Aokigahara cause without his loved one, he can't live anymore,

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'NightShade'?

I'm a huge fan of the Japanese band X-Japan,
Their guitarist « hide » (RIP) screamed on the camera « NightShade » before starting onne of his solo project song, and i thinked at the time that it was a cool name for a band,

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We had tons of crazy shows, but i would say that the « China/Japan Tour » we did two years ago, was INSANE ! We went in so many cities, and thinked it would never have anybody coming, but instead of that, all our shows was packed and the people at the shows was going nuts from the beginning till the end !

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Yes of course, we are working on some tours as we're talking now, and they should be announce really soon,

7.Currently the band is signed to 'Marked Man Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Yes of course. We were before that signed on Bullet Tooth Records, but then when we released Predilections we had to find a new label.
I realised that instead of signing on a new one, i should make one and find distributor,
So i created Marked Man Records, got a worldwide deal with Musicast for PREDILECTIONS and a deal with Season Of Mist and Sony Music for the upcoming one.

So I can keep an eyes on the numbers and now exactly where we have to push more promotion.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of metalcore and deathcore?

It's been amazing, every day we get more and more people folllowing us on Twitter, Instagram, FB etc.. and we are thanksfull for everyone of them !
We're doing our maximum to share the best music possible, so when you realise people like it, there is no better emotion !!

9.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

No, we' re all exclusively working for NightShade, except some featuring here and there sometime, but that's it,

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Seriously i can't tell... Music industry is so much factors, I just hope people will keep following us, listen to our music and come to our shows to share the vibe with us :)

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We have tons of influence, but I would say ainly Metalcore, Deathcore and metal in general.
About music we're listening to, haha, we love rap and electro music,
Bands like G-Eazy, Cardy B, PNL, Arianna Grande, Justin Bieber (yeah yeah sorry but not sorry), Aerochord and many more,
But of course we're listening to many metal bands such as Architects, Crystal Lake, BMTH, Thy Art Is Murder, Emmure,,,

12.What are some of your non musical interests?

Tattoo, Skateboarding, traveling, Anime, Video Games and of course... Party !

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Just would like to thank you for the interview and thanks everyone reading this, supporting the band by anyway ! We hope you'll love the new album, we put our heart and soul into it, and really think it's our best album in time.
