Dying Awkward Angel are a band from Italy that plays a very melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Absence Of Light" which was released by Extreme Metal Music.
Sounds of violence and chaos start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction while the vocals are mostly death metal growls along with some screams as well as the music bringing in a good mixture of both old school Swedish, American and modern influences.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a decent amount of blast beats along with the music also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one song also introducing spoken word parts onto the recording.
One track also adds in a small amount of synths and as the album progresses clean playing can also be heard briefly while they also bring in an instrumental before returning back to vocals and a heavier direction and on the closing song female vocals are added into the music.
Dying Awkward Angel plays a style of melodic death metal that is influenced by both t he American and Swedish styles of the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover spirits, angles, emotions and emptiness themes.
In my opinion Dying Awkward Angel are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blood Of Your Blood" "Shade" "The Dust Devil" and "Killing Floor". 8 out of 10.
