Hautajaisyo are a band from Finland and on this recording goes for more of a melancholic mixture of melodic death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Matkalla Kohti Hautaa" which will be released in February by Inverse Records.
An acoustic intro starts off the album along with some melodic guitar leads and spoken word parts a few seconds later which also takes the music into a heavier direction while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Vocals are mostly death metal growls along with some angry shouts while the music also incorporates a great amount of thrash elements along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as mixing both old school and modern influences together and one track also bring in a brief use of melodic singing.
On this recording Hautajaisyo takes a melancholic and melodic style of death metal and mixes it with thrash to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover death, melancholy, depression, suicide and failure themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hautajaisyo and if you are a fan of melodic death and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tunteeton" "Jos Voison Silmani Ummistaa" "Kuolleena Haudattu" and "Vain Tuhkasi Sinusta Muistutta". 8 out of 10.
