Karkaos are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a very melodic and symphonic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Children Of The Void".
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album along with some symphonic elements which are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while the songs also bring in a great amount of melodic female vocals.
A great amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing which also gets very technical at times while a great amount of death metal growls and screams can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, prog elements can also be heard in certain sections of the songs as well as some clean guitars also being utilized at times and some of the mid tempo sections also add in a touch of deathcore and as the album progresses some of t he songs also bring in a small amount of back up shouts.
Karkaos plays a musical style that takes melodic death and symphonic metal and mixes them together to create a sound of t heir own along with some technical, prog and deathcore elements, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Karkaos are a very great sounding mixture of symphonic, prog and melodic death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Skymaster" "Children Of The Void" "Where Mushrooms Grow" and "Bound By Stars". 8 out of 10. .
