Putrefy are a band from Ireland that plays a very brutal form of gore/death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Knelt Before The Sarcophagus Of Humanity" which will be released in October by Sevared Records.
Dark and epic sounding synths start off the album before going into a more brutal death metal direction which also utilizes blast beats and the band also brings in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as adding in some guttural vocals which also leads up to some slam death metal elements becoming a part of their musical sound.
You can hear a great amount of old school death metal elements in their music being mixed in with the more modern and brutal take on this genre and after awhile the band starts adding in early 90's Florida style death metal solos into their musical style,, ambient style sound effects can also be heard in the music briefly before the band returns back to a more heavy and brutal sound.
A good portion of the fast parts the band brings into the music go back to raw origins of true death metal and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful on this recording and as the album progresses you can also hear melodies being added into the bands musical sound at times while the focus remains mostly more on the brutal side of things.
Putrefy play a style of death metal that is very brutal while also having a bit of an old school feeling which makes their musical style sound a lot more interesting, the production has a very heavy and brutal song while the lyrics cover horror and gore themes.
In my opinion Putrefy are a very great sounding brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wading Through Human Blood" "Smashed Down With Iron" "Bring Out Your Dead" and "Knelt Before the Sarcophagus Of Humanity". 8 out of 10.
