Progenies are a band from Canada that plays a very progressive and melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Beings Of Flesh".
Acoustic guitars start off the album giving the music a progressive feeling before going into a heavier musical direction along with all of the instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as having a symphonic background and after awhile aggressive vocals find their way onto the recording having a different approach to death metal and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with one of the later tracks bringing in a brief use of spoken word parts and smaples.
There is a good mixture of both acoustic and heavy parts throughout the recording and after awhile elements of djent, blast beats, high pitched screams and deep growls find their way into the music and when solos and leads are added into the music they add more to the melodic side of the bands musical sound while they also bring in some acoustic solos on later tracks and there are also a couple of instrumentals present on the album and as the album progresses clean singing male and female vocals can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Progenies creates a very modern and melodic style of progressive death metal that also brings in elements of djent and the y also display a great amount of talent and skill as well as also taking this genre to a different level musically, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover death, chaos, and esoteric themes.
In my opinion Progenies are a very great sounding melodic and progressive death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ethereal" "In Death" "Nemesis" and "The Age of Chaos". 8 out of 10.
