ThunderWorks are a 1 man band from Connecticut that plays a very melodic and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of his self released 2014 album "Thoughts And Thunder".
A very dark, melodic and heavy sound starts off the album along with some death metal growls and high pitched screams and after a couple of minutes acoustic guitars are brought in and start to mix in with the heavier parts as well as the music starting to go for more of a progressive death metal direction.
When solos and leads are added into the music they stick mostly to a melodic death metal direction while you can also hear traditional metal elements at times that is a huge part of this recording and after awhile the music starts adding in more thrash metal elements while some of the later tracks sees the addition of spoken word parts being added into certain sections of the recording along with one of the later tracks being all instrumental.
Once clean singing is added into the music the album which is only used rarely starts really enhancing the progressive death metal nature of the tracks, all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording have a very powerful sound to them and the music sticks to a slow to mid paced musical direction throughout the recording and there are also a few tracks that are very long and epic in length.
ThunderWorks creates a style of death metal that is very melodic and progressive while also being a bit more heavier than most band s of that genre and adding in a great amount of thrash metal influences, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion ThunderWorks are a very great sounding melodic mixture of death, thrash and progressive metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trial of Time" "Rainmaker" "Dark Beneath the Day" and "...for All Eternity". 8 out of 10.
