Shattered/New Atlantis/2015 CD Review

Shattered  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  technical,  progressive,  melodic  and  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2015  album  "New  Atlantis".

Atmospheric  and  avant  garde  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  a  few  seconds  later  that  leads  to  more  of  a  melodic  and  technical  style  of  death  metal  that  also  uses  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  using  both  growls  and  screams.

At  times  the  music  can  be  very  atmospheric  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  go  for  more  of  a  modern  death  metal  sound  while  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  playing  and  the  keyboards  also  return  on  some  of  the  alter  tracks  along  with  some  influences  from  90's  death  metal.

Shattered  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  modern,  technical,  melodic,  atmospheric  and  progressive  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  mythological  and  science  fiction  themes.

In  my  opinion  Shattered  are  a  very  great  sounding  technical,  melodic  and  progressive  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  The  Shattering"  "The  Fall  Of  Hyperion"  "As  Atlas  Reached  The  Stars"  and  "Amnesia'.  8  out  of  10.
