Black Bile are a band from Los Angeles, California that plays an ambient influenced and progressive form of deathcore and this is a review of their self released 2016 ep "Ascension".
A very heavy djent style sound starts off the ep along with some prog metal elements and a few seconds later death metal growls and ambient sounds are added into the music and the guitar rififng is also very heavily influenced by metalcore and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard.
Melodies are added into some of the guitar riffing while t he solos and leads bring in more of a technical style and when clean playing is utilized it gives the music more of an avant garde feeling and the songs stick to mostly a mid paced musical direction and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples.
Black Bile plays a musical style that mixes prog, djent, death metal, deathcore and ambient together to create something very original, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Black Bile are a very great sounding mixture of dark ambient and progressive deathcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Brahman". 8 out of 10.
