Sun of Gaia are a band from Australia that plays a melodic and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 ep "Corrode".
Melodic guitar leads start off the ep along with some drum beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear a lot of modern prog metal elements in the bands musical style and after awhile death metal growls make their presence known on the recording.
A lot of melodies can be heard in the guitar riffing and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and after awhile the music starts going for more of a melodic death metal direction and high pitched screams can also be heard quite bit throughout the recording and there is also a brief use of clean playing which also gives the songs more of a progressive edge and the songs bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there are also a couple of tracks that are very long and epic in length and the last 2 tracks brings in a small amount of synths.
Sun Of Gaia plays a musical style that takes the modern styles of prog and melodic death metal and mixes them together to create a style of t heir own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Sun Of Gaia are a very great sounding progressive/melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Endless Wake" and "Blinding Light". 8 out of 10.
