Carved are a band from Italy that plays a very melodic and symphonic style of death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Kyrie Elesion" which was released by Revalve Records.
Dark sounding synths start off the album and they also give the songs a symphonic and epic feeling and melodic chants and can also be heard at times and they also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs and violins can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and after the intro death metal growls make their presence known.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear elements of prog metal in the bands musical style and screams can also be heard at times and clean singing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and the solos and leads are done in a very melodic yet progressive rock style fashion .
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and acoustic guitars can also be heard in some parts of the songs and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and they also bring in a power ballad before returning back to a heavier direction on the following tracks and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and a couple of the songs are very long and epic in length.
Carved plays a style of death metal that is very modern, melodic and progressive sounding while also mixing in a lot of experimental elements, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, philosophical and occultism themes.
In my opinion Carved are a very great sounding melodic, progressive and symphonic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lilith" "Heart Of Gaia" "The Dividing Line" and "The Hidden Ones". 8 out of 10.
