Damnation Plan are a band from Finland that plays a very melodic and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Reality Illusion"which will be released in March by Inverse Records.
Atmospheric synths start off the album along with some melodic guitar leads a few seconds later and the riffs also add in a touch of prog metal while also using a decent amount of melody and after awhile death metal growls and screams make their presence known along with the music speeding up and adding in blast beats.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and melodic vocals are also utilized at times and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and some of the tracks are long and epic in length and a touch of groove metal is also brought into the music briefly and one track also introduces clean guitars onto the recording and they close the album with a cover of Dio's "Dont Talk To Strangers".
Damnation Plan plays a musical style that takes a melodic and atmospheric style of melodic death metal and mixes it with prog metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover critical self thinking themes.
In my opinion Damnation Plan are a very great sounding atmospheric and progressive melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beyond These Walls" "Blinded Faith" "Reality Illusion" and "Dont Talk To Strangers". 8 out of 10.
