Serenius are a band from France that plays a melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Cocoon".
A very heavy sound starts off the album along with some death metal growls a few seconds later and after awhile t he riffs get more melodic along with high pitched s creams also making their presence known and you can also hear all of t he musical instruments that are present on this recording.
When solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic fashion and you can also hear a lot of Swedish influences in the bands musical style and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while spoken word parts are also used briefly,
Atmospheric and modern metal elements are also used at times and as the album progresses a brief use of clean guitars can be heard and the songs also b ring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and one track also b rings in a small amount of pianos and clean singing before returning back to a heavier direction.
Serenius plays a style of melodic death metal t hat is more rooted in the modern era of the genre, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover the confinement of a human being by society, intellectually, as will as psychically manipulating his perceptions to shape him at the discretion of the slavery system.
In my opinion Serenius are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should c heck out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Worrld" "The Shell" "Core Depths" and "Infinity". 8 out of 10.
