Archaic Tomb are a band from Portugal that plays a very dark form of death metal with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 demo "Congregations For Ancient Rituals" which was released by Caligari Records.
Tribal style drumming starts off the demo and also gives the music more of a ritualistic feeling before going into more of a heavier direction along with a great amount of dark sounding melodies while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as the screams adding in a touch of black metal.
A great amount of 90's influences can be heard in the bands musical style while the music also sounds very modern at the same along with some death metal growls also being used quite a bit throughout the recording as well as some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and on the closing track spoken word parts can be heard briefly.
Archaic Tomb plays a style of death metal that is very dark, cavernous, and ritualistic sounding along with a touch of black metal, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Archaic are a very great sounding cavernous death metal band with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Vast Cursed Landscape" and "Sacred Ritual". 8/5 out of 10.
