Battlesword are a band from Germany that plays a very melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "Banners Of Destruction".
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while the solos and leads also bring in a great amount of melody along with some easy to understand death metal growls a few seconds later and screams are also used at times as well as the faster sections of the songs bringing in a decent amount of blast beats.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's Swedish style as well as some songs also bringing in a small amount of clean playing as well as a brief instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction.
Battlesword plays a style of melodic death metal that is more rooted in the 90's Swedish style instead of the more modern form of the genre, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover death and fantasy themes.
In my opinion Battlesword are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should c heck out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Spirit To The Flesh" "Grave New World" "Left For The Vultures" and "Enemy Divine". 8 out of 10.
