Beyond The Styx are a band from France that plays a mixture of metalcore and deathcore and this is a review of their 2018 album "Stiggma" which will be released on February 23rd as a joint effort between Klonosphere, Season of Mist Distribution and Diorma Records.
A very hard and heavy metalcore sound starts off the album along with some angry hardcore style vocals which also use death metal growls at times while the riffs also bring in a small amount of dark sounding melodies as well as the mid tempo sections of the songs bringing in elements of deathcore.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion while elements of thrash can also be heard at times along with some tracks also bringing in a small amount of spoken word parts and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and one track also adds in a few seconds of piano but gets back to being heavier for the remaining of the recording.
Beyond The Styx plays a musical style that takes deathcore and metalcore and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover angry themes.
In my opinion Beyond The Styx are a very decent sounding mixture of deathcore and metalcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Poison IV" "Danse Macabre" "Lightmare" and "Checkfate". 7/5 out of 10.
