Depravity are a band from Australia that plays a very devastating form of death metal with touches of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Evil Upheaval" which will be released in April by Transcending Obscurity Records.
Spoken word samples start off the album along with some heavy riffing which also uses a decent amount of dark sounding melodies before going into a very fast and brutal direction which also introduces blast beats onto the recording along with vocals being mostly deep death metal growls.
A great amount of 90's influences can be heard in the bands musical style while still capturing a modern atmosphere along with the solos and leads being very chaotic yet melodic at the same time as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when screams are utilized they add in a touch of black metal and as the album progresses a brief use of atmospheric sounds and clean playing can be heard as well as a couple of the tracks being long and epic in length and some of the riffing also incorporates elements of thrash.
Depravity plays a style of death metal that is very brutal and also adds in touches of black and thrash metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, violence, and evil themes.
In my pinion Depravity are a very great sounding brutal death metal band with touches of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Manic Onslaught" "Despondency" "Victimizer" and "Evil Upheaval". 8/5 out of 10.
