Words Of Farewell are a band from Germany that plays a very progressive and melodic form of death metal and this a review of their 2012 album "Immersion" which was released by AFM Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the lead guitars bring a very dark, progressive and atmospheric sound to the music with some 70's rock influences, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast death metal riffs that are very melodic and progressive sounding with a good amount of modern day metal influences, while the lead guitars are very melodic and progressive sounding guitar solos and leads that utilize influences from traditional metal and prog rock with alot of complicated musical scales, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use full chords and finger picking to add more progressive elements to the music.
Vocals are mostly deep death metal growls that have the early 90's Swedish feeling to them along with some high pitched screams as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.
In my opinion Words Of Farewell are a very great sounding progressive and melodic death metal hybrid and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ever After" "On Second Thought" "Vagrant Story" and "Sundown Serenade". RECOMMENDED BUY.
