Skrog are a band from Minnesota that plays a very heavy and brutal form of industrial metal that utilizes some death, thrash and black metal influences and this is a review of their self released 2012 album "The Global Elite".
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast programmed beats which brings an industrial sound to the recording, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a v ery powerful sound to them, as for the synths which are only used on a couple of songs they bring a very dark sound to the music with some more industrial elements being added in while also adding in some flutes.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast industrial metal riffs that are very heavy and brutal sounding with some death, black and thrash metal influences being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very dark sounding extreme metal guitar solos and leads, as for the classical guitars which are only used on one song they use finger picking to add some darkness to the music.
Vocals are mostly industrial style screams and singing with some spoken word parts being utilized at times as well as a good amount of deep death metal growls and high pitched black metal screams in addition t here is a brief use of yelling, while the lyrics cover dark and political themes with a touch of satanism and occultism, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this album.
In my opinion Skrog are a very great sounding hybrid of industrial, thrash and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Revelation" "Military Industrial Complex" and "The Hunted". RECOMMENDED BUY.
