Fallen Fate are a band from England that mixes both modern thrash metal with melodic death metal together and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Into The Black".
The album starts off with an intro that utilizes some synths and whispers and it brings a very haunting and evil introduction to the album as well as adding in drums to create an almost symphonic sound as well as some heavy guitars and screams which sets the perfect beginning for the album.
Once the album goes into actual songs heavy and melodic guitars as well as death metal screams start to kick in along with some blast beats that do not really go into brutal mode, and as the album progresses modern thrash elements are thrown into the music and the lead guitars have a traditional metal feeling to them along with some Swedish melodic death metal influences.
As the album progresses spoken word parts are added into certain sections of the music along with some growls that strengthen's the full on melodic death metal direction this recording invokes, and after awhile the synths start adding in more tragic and symphonic elements as well as bringing an epic sound to the recording.
One of the things that is misleading about this band and album is the fact it is labelled thrash, while I feel it is closer to melodic death metal and the thrash elements that are utilized on this recording are in a more modern death metal and halfway through the album there is also a brief use of clean singing being brought in for a few seconds on a couple of the songs.
When the album gets more towards the end there is a short intro before the last song that uses acoustic guitars that utilize finger picking along with some melodic female vocals before going full force into the last song.
Song lyrics cover dark themes and the recording is a concept album, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording along with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix as well as some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Fallen Fate are a very great sounding melodic death metal band with elements of modern thrash as well as adding decent music to a genre that is stagnating and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blackened Within" "I Welcome the Dead" and "Vespa". RECOMMENDED BUY.
