Cipher are a band from France that plays a melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Deviance".
Water sounds start off the album along with tortured souls screaming and gun shots before going into a heavier musical direction which also introduces death metal growls and screams onto the recording along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and you can also hear a lot of melody in the riffing.
A great amount of thrash elements can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly along with a small amount of whispers.
Cipher plays a style of death metal that is very melodic while also mixing in a great amount of thrash influences, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recoridng while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Cipher are a very great sounding melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Exquis Suppice" "Anonymous" and "Talion". 8 out of 10.
