Immortal Shadow Interview

1.For those that had never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Immortal Shadow is a Melodic Death Metal band formed in Cartagena, Spain.
At the beginning we were just 5 guys playing versions of our favorite bands but we wanted to create our own songs, so we started to compose our first EP.
It was very fulfilled for us, so after record the 2nd EP, we wanted to go further in music’s world and recorded our first album whereby a lot of people is listening us all over the world.

2.How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

Our style is influenced by the Swedish Death Metal and the agressivity of the Thrash Metal. The essence of the album is the melodies combined with aggressive riffs whereby you can appreciate influences of other styles like Viking metal or modern metal.

3.From 2009 to 2017 there was no new material, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time span?

That’s wrong, in 2013 we recorded our 2nd EP called “Death Now a Partner”, and it’s true that in those years we haven’t got much activity because we weren’t focused in doing something serious.
With that EP we realized that we could do something and after roster changes with a new and renewed mentality, we started to compose the songs of “Horror Circus”.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

The main lyric topics are about reflexive themes but we speak about mythological things and horror stories too.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Immortal Shadow'?

The name of the band was inspired by the concept of the immortality, is a fact that all the alive things have a shadow and that shadow is following us to any site that we go, and if something has an Immortal Shadow it will be eternal, like the music.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

This is something very difficult to choose for us, because we try to do our best at every concert.
We leaved the scenario with very good sensations when we played with the Chilean Folkheim, but in others festivals that we have played too.
Our stage performance is very energetic inciting the public to do a lot of mosh pits and head banging.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

We have already played some concerts of the tour, in fact, we got 2 shows scheduled for the next month and we are organizing more dates in Spain for the tour that will be announced soon.

8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

Some labels were interested in the band, but we are beginners now and we didn’t have enough resources for that.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?

The feedback that we are having is very positive, lots of radios and webs are having interest in our album, helping us to reach more people.

10.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Our drummer, Anibal, is involved in other band of power metal called Anima Sacra, that we strongly recommend to listen.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We hope that in a few years, when the band gain some reputation outside Spain, we could do an European Tour sharing stage with some bands that nowadays are a reference for us.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We listen a very wide range of music, some of us usually listen black metal, others listen Bluegrass, blues…we think all the styles have something to contribute to your life and some of that influences are reflecting when we compose our songs.

13.What are some of your non musical interests?

Our principal non musical interest is the beer and go partying! But sometimes…not very often as drink, we do other things like playing videogames, watching sports or just studying our university careers.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

We are grateful for the support that we are receiving from all the Medias and the fans, that’s very nice for us because this is our first album and we are very excited.
From Spain, STAY BRUTAL!
