Vermis Antecessor are a band from Spain that plays a very brutal and guttural form of death metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Prelude To Perversion" which was released by Icon Of Brutality Records.
A very fast and brutal sound along with a great amount of blast beats start off the ep along with some guttural death metal growls a few seconds later and the music also brings in elements of slam along with a great amount of open note riffing and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the musicians also demonstrate a great amount of talent and skill and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic yet brutal style and the ep also remains very heavy and brutal from beginning to ending of the recording and a couple of the tracks where recorded live.
Vermis Antecessor plays a style of death metal that is very brutal and guttural sounding with a touch of slam, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover gore, sickness, and perversion themes.
In my opinion Vermis Antecessor are a very great sounding brutal and guttural death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Prelude To Perversion" and "Ritual Of Obscenity". 8 out of 10.
