Coma Cluster Void are an international band with members from Canada, Germany, and the United States that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very dissonant, avant garde and technical form of death metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "Thoughts From A Stone" which will be released in October by Translation Loss Records.
Spoken word parts start off the ep along with some avant garde elements and stringed instruments a few seconds later which also adds in a touch of classical and after the intro powerful sounding bass guitars and dissonant structures are added onto the recording while the music also gets very technical at times.
At times the music gets very experimental while death metal growls are added as the recording progresses along with some progressive and math rock elements also being utilized in some of the guitar leads and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard and one track also brings in clean playing and female vocals.
On this recording Coma Cluster Void plays a style of death metal that is very avant garde, experimental, technical and dissonant sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover philosophical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Coma Cluster Void and if you are a fan of avant garde death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sculpting This Vision" and "We Are The Law". 8 out of 10.
