Gorgy are a band from Kentucky that has been featured before in this zine and plays a brutal mixture of death metal and grindcore and this is a review of their 2017 compilation album "Legacy Of Gore" which was released by Static Tension Recordings and consists of all of the tracks that have been recorded so far.
Horror movie samples start off the compilation before going into more of a brutal direction which also introduces death metal growls onto the recording along with some morbid sounding melodies and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and grindcore elements can be heard.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain true to more of a traditional death metal style while the mid tempo sections add in elements of slam along with some guttural growling vocals and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Horror movie samples are also used on some of the later tracks while a great amount of tremolo picking can be heard in the faster riffing and as the compilation progresses high pitched screams can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and on some of the more recent recordings from the band the leads and solos also start utilizing more of a melodic tone and acoustic guitars are added onto the closing track.
Gorgy displays a very brutal mixture of death metal and grindcore throughout this compilation while also adding in elements of slam at times, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover gore, violence and hatred themes.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collection from Gorgy and if you are a fan of brutal death metal and grindcore, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "3rd Degree Sodomy" "Christ Fucking Sodomy" "Selling God" and "From Womb To Tomb". 8 out of 10.
