Noumena are a band from Finland that plays a melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Death Walks With Me" which was released by Haunted Zoo Productions.
"Handful Of Dust" begins with some drums and melodic guitar leads which leads to some deep death metal growls as well as some guitar rhythms and after awhile clean singing female vocals kick in before going back to the growls which also leads to another brief guitar solo as well as switching back and forth between the melodic and aggressive singing as well as adding in more solos and the song utilizes some powerful bass playing towards the end as well as some melodic male vocals.
"Play Dead" begins with some growls, melodic guitar leads and drums along with some powerful bass playing setting up the mood for some guitar rhythms while also keeping the leads around and as time moves by the riffing gets more diverse.
"Sleep" begins with some soft acoustic guitars which utilize finger picking along with some leads in t he background setting up the mood for some growls and drums along with some rhythm guitar playing as well as switching back and forth between soft and heavy parts which leads to t he bass playing getting heavier as well as mixing in some female vocals.
"Death Walks With Me" begins with heavy melodic guitar riffs and drums setting up the mood for some growls and after awhile there is a brief use of high pitched screams along with some powerful bass and female vocals kicking in shortly after that along with some melodic leads in t he background before going in a softer direction and adding in spoken word parts before returning to its heavier roots and combining melodic singing and growls.
"Let It Run Red" begins with some heavy guitar riffs and drums which leads to some melodic guitar leads before returning back to the rhythms and adding in some growls and after awhile melodic parts kick in along with some female vocals and solos start coming in on and off.
"The Storm" begins with some melodic leads, bass guitars and drums setting up the mood for some growls before going into a softer direction with some acoustic guitars and adding in some melodic vocals which leads to the music getting heavy again with some heavy rhythms as well as combining some growls and singing which then leads to the music switching back and forth between soft and heavy.
"Mysteries Of Motion" begins with some heavy guitar riffs, melodic leads, bass and drums which leads to some growls and as the song moves on the riffs start getting more diverse setting up the mood for some melodic vocals as well as introducing more solos along with the rhythms.
"Nothing" begins with some heavy riffs, drums and melodic leads setting up the mood for some growls and after awhile the music goes into a softer direction and brings in some melodic singing before getting heavy again and combining the melodic vocals with some growls and after awhile the rhythms and leads start adding more diverse elements.along with some acoustic guitars getting added in at times.
"Only The Silent" begins with some powerful guitar riffs and drums which leads to some growls, heavy bass playing and a brief use of blast beats as w ell as mixing in some melody, as the song moves on melodic guitar leads start kicking in at times.
"Seasons Of Suffocation" begins with some acoustic guitars and melodic vocals which leads to some heavy guitar riffs and drums setting up the mood for some growls and melodic guitar leads that also mix in with the rhythms and after a few minutes the song goes more into a semi fast direction for awhile before slow down again and returning to the acoustic guitars along with some powerful bass playing and melodic vocals and some violins make their way into the mix setting up the mood for the music getting heavy again.for awhile before returning to the softer sections.
"Sundown" begins with some soft acoustic guitars which utilize both finger picking and full chords setting up the mood for some melodic vocals and after a few minutes you can hear some violins before adding in some male vocals which have a more aggressive tone to them.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Noumena are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Handful Of Dust" "Death Walks With Me" "Mysteries Of Motion" and "Seasons Of Suffocation". RECOMMENDED BUY.
