Squash Bowels are a band from Poland that has a long history with a musical style that I would describe as being old school gore/grind and this is a review of their 2013 album "Grindcoholism" which was released by Selfmadegod.
"Tastlesness" starts off with heavy grindcore guitar riffs which lead to the vocals as well as slowing down for a few seconds before going fast again and adding in heavy bass playing and screams along with a distorted guitar lead as well as switching back and forth between the slow and fast parts.
"Trap" starts off with a slow death metal guitar riff and drums before bringing in the screams and growls and speeding up and adding in blast beats and only slowing down for a few seconds and mixing in guitar leads in the faster sections.
"The Theater" starts off with drums and heavy guitar riffs before the bass kicks in and the music gets faster with some growls and blast beats which in return leads to some high pitched screams combining with guttural growls.and switching back and forth between slow and fast parts.
"Surrender" starts off with slow heavy guitar riffing and drums which lead to screams and growls making their presence known and after awhile it goes into a faster direction along with some blast beats and switching back and forth between fast and slow sections.
"The Second" starts off with fast grindcore guitar riffs, blast beats and deep growls and after awhile screams make their presence known along wit h powerful bass and guturral growls as well as slowing down towards the end while also reverting back to faster sections.
"Inclinations To..." starts off with some heavy mid paced guitars and drums before going fast and mixing in high screams and blast beats while also slowing down at times.
"Grindccohilism" starts off with punk/grind style guitar riffs and drums along with some spoken word samples and adding in blast beats and growls.
"Steering" starts off with fast guitar riffs, blast and screams and after awhile starts mixing in deep growls and after awhile the song slows down and you can hear some distorted bass playing before returning back to fast mode.
"Naked Positive Act" starts off with a heavy guitar riff before going fast adding in blast beats, screams and growls and after a minute the slow slows down for a few minutes and you can hear t he bass guitars before the song returns to blast mode.
"La Mentia" starts off with a heavy guitar riff and drums before the growls start kicking in and after awhile the song goes faster and adds in screams and blast beats and slows down towards the end.
"Compassions" Starts off with heavy guitar riffs, powerful bass drums and growls with some screams kicking in shortly after that and taking the song into a slower direction as well as switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and after awhile a primitive guitar lead makes its presence known.
"Litany Of Hungry" starts off with fast guitar riffs, powerful bass and blast beats which leads up to some growls before slowing down for a second and adding in screams and after awhile the song slows down again and introduces a guitar lead before going back in a faster direction.
"Foreign Will" starts off with some heavy guitar riffs, bass and drums which leads to the growls kicking in and taking the song into a faster direction and bringing in screams and blast beats.
"Stigmatizing" starts off with faster guitar riffs, blast beats and growls and after awhile it starts switching back and forth between slow and fast parts.
Song lyrics cover gore themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
In my opinion Squash Bowels are a very great sounding goregrind band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tastlesness" "Naked Positive Act" "Compassions" and "Foreign Will". RECOMMENDED BUY.
