Burden Of Grief are a band from Germany which have been featured before in this zine and plays a melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Unchained" which was released by Massacre Records.
Classical and acoustic guitars start off the album along with some melodic guitar leads which leads up to heavy guitar rhythms kicking in which leads to a melodic death metal direction along with some growls and screams and they also keep around the acoustic guitars which makes the music sound more diverse.
When guitar solos and leads are added into the music they bring an 80's metal feeling to the music and the later t racks also see the band adding in more thrash and modern metal elements into their musical sound and they also use a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts throughout the songs.
In some of the songs you can hear some prog and psychedelic sounds being utilized in the background for a few seconds and all of the songs avoid blast beats and focus more on a mid 90's Swedish influenced melodic death metal sound and the last 2 songs are cover's of Disturbed's "Another Way To Die" and "Black Sabbath's "Neon Nights".
Burden of grief continue their melodic mixture of death and thrash metal from previous recordings while also having a sound to would appeal to both old school and modern metal fans, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover illness, death, sorrow and pain.
In my opinion this is another decent sounding recording from Burden Of grief and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Awaken The Nightmare" "Operation Eagle Eye" "Black Evolution 666" and "Neon Nights". 7/5 out of 10.
