Caelestia are a band from Greece that plays a very melodic and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Beneath Abyss" which will be released in February by Inverse Records.
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the album along with some melodic chanting and after a minute the music goes into more of a melodic death metal direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound and the music also adds in atmospheric elements with the heavier parts and after awhile screams and growls are added into the music.
Melodic female vocals can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the music also brings in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of blast beats and the solos the band uses also remain true to a melodic musical direction and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording there are elements of symphonic and progressive metal being mixed in with the bands musical style along with a couple of instrumental tracks while the following songs make a return back to a heavier direction and there are also some male clean singing vocals on one of the songs that are done by the singer of Soilwork.
Caelestia plays a style of death metal that is very melodic, brutal and progressive and they mix in operatic female vocals and symphonic elements to create a sound of their own, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover dark, occult and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Caelestia are a very great sounding symphonic, progressive and melodic mixture of death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Malleus Maleficarum 'The Secret Cult" "Blessing Of Tragedy" "Secret Rite" and "The Rise Of Hidden nature". 8 out of 10.
