Extinctionist are a band from Germany that plays a very brutal and technical form of death metal with elements of grind and deathcore and this is a review of their 2014 album "Portals of Extraterrestrial Invasions" which was released by Rising Nemesis Records.
Science fiction sounds which are also used on some of the other tracks as well start off the album and after the intro the music starts going for more of a brutal death metal sound while also incorporating a small amount of melody at times and when vocals are added into t he music they are very guttural sounding growls and at times spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Most of the music is done in more of a modern day style of death metal and the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of blast beats and after awhile the music also gets more technical and also brings in a great amount of solos and leads and some of the tracks also use a small amount of pig squeals and spoken word samples and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Extinctionist plays a style of death metal that is very brutal and technical sounding and also brings in a touch of grind and deathcore to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover science fiction themes.
In my opinion Extinctionist are a very decent sounding technical and brutal mixture of death metal, grind and deathcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unexpected Return" "Painful Excesses Of Doom" "Morpholus Heritage" and "Dead Human Era". 7/5 out of 10.
