Centura are a band from North Carolina that plays a melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Amerigeddon".
A very heavy and old school thrash sound starts off the album before the screams kick in and the band also bring in elements of melodic death metal and mixes it in with thrash along with a very modern day metal sound which also shows the vocals bringing in traces of hardcore along with a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
In certain sections of the recording you can hear acoustic guitars in the background and the band also adds a great amount of melodic touches to their guitar solos and leads and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and th e band also brings in blast beats at times as well as having a couple of tracks that are very long and epic in length.
As the ep progresses the band start to incorporate more brutal element s in their sound which also makes the music have a heavier sound as well as having a mixture of both old school and modern extreme metal in their sound and the band always keeps a melodic edge in their songs and while they are always very heavy they still have a lot of diversity in t heir music.
Centura create a very interesting sound with their music taking the modern, melodic death metal sound and mixing it with old school thrash along with a touch of hardcore while avoiding all happy or mainstream sounds, the production is very professional sounding and the lyrics cover violent and political themes.
In my opinion Centura are a very great sounding mixture of melodic death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Amerigeddon" and "Defying their Gravity". 8 out of 10.
