Illdisposed are a band from Denmark that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their 2004 album "1-800 Vindication" which will be re-issued on vinyl by Heartburn Music.
AM radio sounds start off the album and a minute alter the music goes into a more symphonic and melodic death metal direction along with some growls and screams and they also have some guitar solos that are heavily rooted in the classic metal tradition as well as adding in clean singing at times.
You can hear some groove and thrash elements being mixed in with their melodic death metal sound at times and the music on this recording sticks to mostly a mid paced direction and always has a great amount of melody and when the music speeds up and adds in blast beats the music starts evoking a more early 90's Swedish death metal sound.
In certain sections of the recording spoken word samples are added in as well as the album incorporating more electronic music elements as the album progresses while also always remaining true to a heavy and melodic sound.
Illdisposed remained true to their sound on this album and while I had albums from this band since the 90's I never bought this one when it came out and this album is a lot better than their later material which I did get to hear and review, the production is very professional sounding and the lyrics cover everyday, conflict and hate themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Illdisposed and if you are a fan of this band, you probably already own this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Believe In Me" "When You Scream" "Still Sane" and "The Final Step". 8 out of 10.
