Coprocephalic are a band from Taiwan that plays a very atmospheric and brutal form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "The Oath Of Relinquishment" which was released by Lacerated Enemy Records.
A very dark and atmospheric sounding intro starts off the album and also adds in spoken word smaples which they also continue on the first track along with some guttural growling vocals which leads up to more of a heavy and brutal death metal direction along with some melodies and you can also hear elements of technical, slam and deathcore in their musical sound.
On most of the tracks they band mixes the brutal parts in with the atmospheric sounds and halfway through the album the bands starts adding in a small amount of guitar leads while the man focus remains more on heavy and brutal rhythm's and on some of the songs members of Disgorge, Pathology and Guttural Secrete do some session work.
Coprocephalic creates a very original style adding in atmospheric elements to a brutal and guttural form of death metal and while the vocals are not the style of death metal i listen to on a regular basis the band still displays a great amount of talent and skill with their musical style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover gore and science fiction themes.
In my opinion Coprocephalic are a very decent sounding atmospheric and brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Craving Of The Exotic Spores" "Oracles From The Netherrealm" "Oxidize the Mind" and "(Prot)Christ". 7/5 out of 10.
