Sadist are a band from Italy that plays a very progressive form of death metal that also brings in a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Hyaena" which was released by Scarlet Records.
Nature sounds start off the album before going into more of a heavy, melodic and progressive sound ad there are also elements of ethnic music in the bands musical style along with the vocals bringing in a mixture of growls and screams that also add in a touch of black metal and the music also mixes in symphonic elements.
When solos and leads are utilized they are very melodic and the music also brings in a touch of jazz and the riffs also bring in a touch of thrash and the music also gets very experimental at times and at times spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also bringing in tribal elements and some songs also bring in a brief use of acoustic guitars and all of the songs stick to mostly a mid paced musical direction.
Sadist creates another progressive death metal album that has a touch of thrash and black metal while also getting more tribal and also adding in more of a modern musical direction, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover African tribal paganism.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sadist and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Lonely Mountain" "The Devil Riding The Evil Seed" "African Devourer's" and "Genital Mask". 8 out of 10.
