Sunless Rise are a band from Russia that plays a very symphonic and melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 album "Unrevealed".
A very distorted sounding synth stars off the album before getting a lot more heavier and adding in blast beats, high pitched screams and death metal growls as well as some melodic guitar leads and a more symphonic style of metal that also uses a great amount of clean singing vocals at times and you can also hear a great amount of Finnish influences.
At times the music sounds very progressive and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and when angry shouts are utilized they also help give the music more of a modern and mainstream metal feeling and some songs also add in elements of electronic music and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts on a couple of the tracks while a later songs also brings in a brief use of acoustic guitars and clean playing while some of the fast riffs also add in thrash influences and the last rack also brings in a bass guitar lead.
Sunless Rise plays a style of death metal that is more on the modern and melodic style of the genre while also being very symphonic, progressive and technical at times, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics are a concept based upon a man who had destroyed mankind.
In my opinion Sunless Rise are a very great sounding symphonic, melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ghosts Of the Past" "Eidolon" "Recovering the Truth" and "Sunless Rise". 8 out of 10.
