This is a review of a split ep between Ohio's From The Hellmouth and Mutiltred which will be released in August as a joint effort between Redefinging Darkness and Seeing Red Records and we will start off the review with From The Hellmouth a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays an old school form of death metal with a touch of slam.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and brutal sound along with some death metal growls and the music also has a lot of 90's influences while being modern at the same time and when t he music speeds up a great amount of blast beat can be heard and the solos and leads also gives the songs more of an old school vibe.
Throughout their side of the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and screams can also be heard at times along with a small amount of melody and synths can also be heard in the background briefly along with a small amount of nature sounds and the mid tempo sections also adds in touches of slam, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover violent themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from From The Hellmouth and if you are a fan of old school and brutal death metal, you should check out their side of t he split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Wolves Must Be Fed".
Next up is Multitred a band that plays a brutal style of slam death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and brutal sound along with a great amount of blast beats as well as some guttural death metal growls while the mid tempo sections add in touches of slam and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts,
Elements of noise are also used at times and on the last track the music starts adding in more of an avant garde vibe as well as being very long and epic in length and the riffs also add in a small amount of melody, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Multitred are a very great sounding brutal slam death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Part Of The Decay" and "Prescribed Death".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of brutal and slam death metal. 8 out of 10.
