This is a review of another recording from Die which continues their melodic and progressive mixture of death metal with the ep being self titled and self released during the year of 2008.
The ep starts out with some dark and atmospheric sounds and a few seconds later acoustic guitars and drums are added into the music which leads up to some fast guitar riffs along with some progressive guitar leads, synths and melodic vocals and halfway through the song screams and growls are added into the music and they also keep around the progressive elements.
As the ep progresses the band sticks to a more melodic and progressive route and they also mix in psychedelic and atmospheric elements which also makes the ep have a very original sound but they also do mix in brutal elements and blast beats in certain sections of the music.
This ep is a lot more progressive than the previous one released you can hear a lot of musical growth on these songs and they seem to be heavily influenced by both Opeth and Edge of Sanity while also adding some newer elements to progressive death metal.
Song lyrics cover darkness and despair themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound for being a self released recording with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix as well as some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding ep from Die and if you are a fan of melodic and progressive death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Despair no Distraction" and "Orbital". 8 out of 10.
