Die where a band from Orlando, Florida that played a very progressive and melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2006 ep "Sorrow's Great Deceit".
The ep starts out with some fast and melodic death metal guitar riffs along with some blast beats and a few seconds alter high pitched screams make their way into the music and then the music slows down and clean singing vocals are added in along with some deep growls which leads to a return to the faster parts along with some progressive sounding guitar leads and then the music goes into a cleaner direction and then it reverts back to the heavier parts.
When the band go into their next song they start mixing brutal death metal with their more progressive sounding elements as well as evoking a dark atmosphere with some synths and when they add in blast beats the mixture gets more brutal and the band goes for more of an atmospheric direction with the third song which also contains some dark sounding acoustic guitars and the band also goes into a more heavier direction on the last song but returning to a more progressive, atmospheric and melodic direction halfway through the song.
Die displays a great amount of skill and talent with these 4 songs they show they can be as brutal as any death metal band while also being very melodic and progressive at the same time and all 4 of the songs stand out and all of them sound different from each other.
Song lyrics cover darkness and sorrow themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this ep along with a couple of songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Die are a very great sounding melodic and progressive death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ghost From The past" and "Lifted And Taken". RECOMMENDED BUY.
