Fallen Fate Interview

Answers from Lee (Vocals and Guitar)

1. Can you give us an update on what has been going on since the recording of the new album?

The Album was recorded in Feb/March of 2013 and since then the band have been touring the UK and promoting the release of into The Black.

2.You have a new album coming out later this month, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction you have taken with the new album and also how does it differ from your past recordings?

The new album is a concept album based around a chilling horror movie theme, so that element plays a huge part in the sound and feel of the album.  It is a lot more dark and evil sounding but the music has also progressed and evolved since the release of The Virus Has Spread in 2011.  The general feel is a more solid metal sound but we have also mixed in movie music themes with strings, choirs and a lot of experimental samples throughout the album to being a new dynamic.

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with the new album?

The lyrical topics revolve solely around the story of the concept.  The concept is based around a young girl called Vespa.  She does not believe in any God and slowly over time becomes possessed by a demon.  The story builds up to her killing her family, herself and it leaves the listener empowered to choose if she was possessed by the Devil or if she was Possessed by God himself for her lack of faith.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Fallen Fate'?

When I came up with the name I was looking for something that was memorable and dark sounding so it was easy to identify the band as a metal act.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

The UK and Ireland tour with Onslaught was awesome and also our performances at the Download and Bloodstock Festivals were a stand out.  The band's stage performance is high energy, intense and also different to most bands around our standard.  Come and check out a show to see for yourself in 2014.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album and 2014?

We will be booking a small UK Tour for the summer and we will also be playing a few UK festivals in 2014.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

We have had a few discussions about labels but at the moment we are content with doing it all ourselves until the right deal comes along which is in the best interest of the band and its future.  So many bands believe that making it is to get signed but in this day and age, that isnt always the case.  Many bands that get signed are restricted to what they can do and give away a percentage of their brand, this is something that we don't want to do unless it is going to expand the band's name on a worldwide scale.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer material by fans of metal?

We released the Album through pledge Music in mid 2013 as the fans had funded the recording of Into The Black.  The feedback so far from the album and live shows has been very solid and we are looking forward to expanding our audience once the album is released.

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

I think that the Fallen Fate sound will keep on evolving to be more contemporary metal orientated while still using in the key features that we have held since the band began in 2005.

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer material and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I personally have a wide range of music taste which I think helps when writing music.  I am constantly on the look out for new material to gain influence from and to add into my creative arsenal.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Outside of music I've just set up my own Clothing company called 'Saints of the Undead' specialising in custom items, mainly denim and leather jackets

12.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thanks for taking the time to gain a little insight into the new album.  It will be available through iTunes on the 28th of January and Spotify on the 30th so check it out!
